Hmm,
I was reading through the forum and stumbled across the original post that started the AntiPoints, and JP said that not only would they allow members to be easier to be judged but also you will be able to receive AntiGear, software, and the such. I was just wondering, will there ever be something that the AntiPoints will be worth? {Besides just little green dots, that say I am better than you} Like maybe, free software, a t-shirt, or something of that sort?
What do all of you think??
Sounds good to me. Maybe we could have an online "AntiOnline" store where we could buy software and stuff. What about getting a discount for certain levels of antipoints?
The3ntropy i was around when they were introduced and at that time getting 2 dots was a hard thing to do but now everyone could own JP 2 times over its just not feasable really

I hope there will be, and this was recently brought up in another thread. Hopefully he will implement his original idea of a store-like thing.

What I am talking about is selling off you AntiPoints, not to an extreme state, but actually to promote the site {Free advertising}. An example would be, you can get an AO sticker, just like the banner at the top of the page, for 100 points. For 500, you can get a T-shirt, or hat. Stuff like that. {I know I would give off 100 of my points to get a sticker to slap on my new PC.} Nothing really big, but it would be neat to have, and JP would benefit by attracting more attention to this already popular site.

Forget the whole antipoint towards stuff, just make it a paystore, we buy what we want.

Perhaps keeping to the general premise of Jp first idea . How about as tyger_claw said make it a pay store but have the avaible items linked to the number of anitpoints. For example the much sort after T shirt or lunch box you have to have a high number of antipoints to purchase, sticker and other stuff less points needed?

I think that it's a cool idea...but not practical. I don't see JP wanting to spend his cash for kicks. Hey, it'd still be cool. But about the store....no. I don't think that will happen. either JP will love burnning holes in his poket or he'll have to put advertisments on this page. And do you really want to see "THE JOY OF PEPSI COLA" on this site?

I say use it to tame the flamers and kiddies that come through...you have to have at least _ many dots to download anything, and 2X_ dots if it's a virus or trojan you want....lol
If so many people handn't found ways to corrupt the antipoint system, there might have been a better chance. From what I have seen, anyone can get a couple hundread antipoints for a few stupid posts, and you are all set.
Whilst getting free stuff for antipoints might sound like a good idea, it would open the system to even more abuse, plus lots of members have hundreds of antipoints.
I think the best idea would not to be to surrender your antipoints in exchange for free stuff, but rather to get a continued discount (e.g. 5% off anything for sale at AO) that doesn't use up your points.
Alternatively, antipoints could be used to get access to certain features, so if you had say 200+ antipoints you would get an @antionline.com email or something similar, just like you need 275 posts to view the AO addicts forum.

I like the idea of a "pay store"... JP could order the shirts or whatever as orders come in. I don't think he's got too much cash to kick around (since the windows on the store are extremely dirty!! (JP-- $20 and I'll come and clean them.. I've even got my own squeegie!! :) ))
Besides, I think AntiPoints should say more about your online moral fiber than how much of a discount you can get on cool gear. But i guess that might be a good enough reason for people to post useful, intelligent knowledge and questions.
I want a store, and I feel that these points that are recieved can be used as a discount thing, but they shouldn't determine what you can access (i.e- you have to have over 100 points to buy this item!)

www.cafepress.com has a great program. Tshirts, cups, mouse pads etc, just upload your artwork and pick out what you want. No charge. They handle shipping and cc acceptance, you (as in you JP :D ) mark up the items accordingly and receive the extra profit in order to maintain the site.
I've currently got one site set up with them and it was very very easy, just provide a banner on the front page and link it directly to your store. comics.com uses them, dilbert.com, customerssuck.com the list is huge the quality seems very well done and once you look at their list of clientele you know they have to be doing something right.
