It's simply the best.
I prefer it because it sorts according to relevance a lot more efficiently than most other search engines. I used to use Altavista (because it gave the best results), but moved to Google when it was still very new because I could complete my searches faster than I could with any other engine.
I always used AltaVista and it was not bad, but when I discovered google (this was about 3-4 years ago) I never went back to AltaVista since. It just finds everything you are looking for very quickly. The technology it uses seems to work. I remember reading that people firstly didn't know why it worked so well, but hey, who cares, if it works, it works. They are the most popular search engine now and so they should be.
I'm sure if you use it for a while, you'll understand why it's the best. :)

Thanx for the help...I'll check it out.
A long time ago, I read in US News Weekly that the people who wrote and implemented the technology Google are two graduate students from Stanford. If anyone's interested in a little more about how it works, and about the two students, check out this link:Quote:

the real question iz y not google??? i think its simply 1 of the best out there...
Google is simply the best.
google is the best engine because of the pigeons, see for yourself

I've always used Dogpile.... but I'll give google a try.
google still does an honest search. you can type in 6rtyher^&, and you don't get results like:
"the home of 6rtyher^& on the net..."
"find books about 6rtyher^&..."
"6rtyher^& discussed in detail"
goole will even show results on things that wern't meant to be shown.
Google is simply the most effective search engine at the moment ... and it's fast too ...
I tried a few of the newer engines that are being developed such as AllTheWeb, Teoma, WiseNut or Vivisimo, but none of them match Google's performance.
In short, until something better comes along, Google is it for me!

Google processes more than 150 million search queries a day through its own site and others, such as Yahoo!, that license Google's technology
