Altogether, I'm kinda tired of hearing people complain about IRC. If you can't take the heat, stay out of the kitchen. It's ALWAYS like that in there, yet some of us manage to stay, not get banned, have fun, make friends and learn things.

w0rM in the channel is me, that was my second visit to the chat and that is how i was greeted, when i said i had no money and couldnt donate people got angry and wouldnt help me, except for one person in there( i appreciate that by the way) Somehow after it was all over everyone said it was my fault tht jp would not do something like that? Please without flaming will someone tell me what i did in the channel to anger everyone?

I think that was BS what they all said and did to w0rm, and I don't think anyone, no matter how much "respect" or "power" they have sould ban anyone from a chat room just because of them not donating money. Ridiculous, if you ask me.

On the other hand, I am going to bug my mom into writing me a check so that I can send in five bucks or so. I am running on a supa-tight budget right now because I am saving to go to a private school in my town, but I will spare a small bit for this, I suppose. Seriously, though, I'm sure this place we're donating to doesn't want anyone else hurt by them _not_ donating, and that included kicks, bans, or insults in a channel. If one does not want to give money, one does not have to, and that is the end of the story.

UTXtreme: The problem with you was not so much what happened in IRC, which I will admit was a bit extreme, but you don't walk into someplace new without knowing the in's and out's, and start complaining.

The problem was that you then came on the boards with the complaint, and instead of starting a thread about it, you inserted your negative opinions into at least two threads that didn't have anything to do with it. You used really obscene language, which is never a good way to be taken seriously, and you attacked the founder of a site that a lot of people love. You ruined one thread, turning it into a flame war, and caused another thread to be closed with you obscenity and nastiness.

Now I'm not saying that a new thread would have really helped, because you seem to state yourself in a way that makes a lot of people angry. But you guarenteed yourself flames because you basically "took over" a thread that had nothing to do with the original post. You opened yourself up for abuse, and you got it.

I hope I have cleared the issue up a little, and perhaps if you try to be more civil, and state your complaints to the person that they involve (a PM to JP) you can start over here, and people will be willing to give you another chance. But hijacking threads with obscenity and nastiness will guarentee that your stay here will be short an unpleasant.

Why don't we keep our IRC-problems on IRC, and our forum-problems on the forums?

I know it's hard to talk about your problems on IRC if you're banned, but it wasn't 'the guy with the problem' who started this thread, and besides, he wasn't even banned. I've had my arguements with the IRC-opers, they know I don't agree with some of the **** they've done, but what good would posting those conversations on the forums do? All I'd get would be reactions from people who don't know what has been going on (the guys bitching the most in this thread weren't even there... I might be mistaken because I wasn't there either - but I don't see the guys bitching in this thread stand up and say something in that IRC-conversation).

Oh, and posting Private Messages is way off, imo.

I've said it before, and I'll keep saying it: AntiOnline is NOT a democracy. Freedom of speech does NOT apply on the AO-Forums, nor on the AO-IRC... If JP feels like banning someone, if JP feels like badmouthing someone, he has every right to do so. JP has rights, you have duties. Not fair, you say? IMO, it's the only way to run AO.
If this were a democracy, 51% of all visitors would be enough to take away JP's admin-rights.
What would that lead to? JP IS AO.
Argue about it as much as you want, but don't bitch.

I am new here and already i can see that, the antionline irc channel is pretty much useless. It is full of flamers, i stopped in for a few minutes and the only topics being discussed were things like who is more lame than the other, this is a very cool board I only wish the irc channel could match the quality of material that is discussed in the boards. That is just my opinion, make of it what you will :o

s0nIc is absolutely correct... at times, AO-irc is just about fun... people sit around, and talk ****... and I make a complete and utter ass of myself *what can I say, I enjoy it*...

but most times... you can go on it.. and nearly every legitimate question you ask can be answered in minutes... some of the smartest people I've ever met are on AO-irc... and a lot of them don't even use the forums...

its like riding a horse.. if you fall off.. you shoot the horse and get another one.... if you fall off that.. you open a butchery, and keep practicing your horse riding skills....

Just an idea, but let's all get back to the business of information and (sometimes) entertainment. Since I have joined AO, I have been extremely impressed with the level of knowledge of the membership. I have learned a lot from many of you.

The recent turn of events with the flames posted resulting from an IRC incident seem to have started to wear on the nerves of many here and have begun to take up space that could be better utilized.

Those who are having an issue with anybody here should talk w/that person directly. Keep it off of the boards. I can understand JP advertising his situation on the site, hell, it's his! If you don't want to donate, then don't. Keep it to yourself. If you want to donate, then do so, you'll get a kudo next to your name as a sign of JP's appreciation. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that either. Jp's cause is honorable and most definitely worthy of our attention, I don't think there'd be much argument with that.

I'm just tired of the constant fighting. I'd really like to start seeing the posts we are accustomed to, and the rest of this to fade away. It's over - let it go. As for me, this is my first and last post on the subject. I will not post replies to responses to my post or any posts in the future about this situation, and I would suggest everybody else follow suit and let it drop.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who has had about enough of opening a thread only to find more flames and complaints.

Prime example of what i am taking about in this forum, look at my anti points, from my last statement someone has givin me bad feedback, childish, noone cares about "antipoints" at least i dont. It is people like that, that start flame wars. They simplay cannot cope with another person having opinions that differ from their own. I dont let things get me down while on the internet because my life is comprised of a lot more than computers. I have a job, girlfriend, play music, go to college, not to mention most of my computer activities involve 3DS max. later.. :cool:

I'll get you back in the green next time...")... 10 minutes before you made your last post, that is. I was wrong. And if you would've read the comment that came with those antipoints, you'd know that it wasn't about your opinion, but about something I was wrong about. Just to clear that up.
