they probably used a camera...recorded it and then combined it on the computer
or they had special equipment...or they took a picure and flipped it and combined it.
*shrugs*. almost anythings possible these days
There are programs that "stitch" multiple pictures together. I.E., you take several pictures and the program stitches them together to make it seem like one big pic. I got a proggie that does that around here somewhere... *rummages through drawers* :)

It was done using a method that was popularized in the 1950's...i believe it was called Transphotoing. This method was later developed and refined to include the ability to invert certain angles to reach 180 degrees, thereby giving the effect the photographer was standing on his/her head. Duh people! Geez!
