c:\winnt\shellnew in 2K
c:\windows\shellnew in 9x

Ok, I found the answer with the help of Juridian :D
They are either stored in
C:\WinNT\ShellNew for NT\2000
or
C:\windows\shellnew in other versions....
They are also in the registry at
hkey_current_user/software/microsoft/windows/currentversion/explorer/discardable/postsetup/shellnew/
hkey_users/software/microsoft/windows/currentversion/explorer/discardable/postsetup/shellnew/

Rewandythal: That only displays a couple of the ones that are in my New thing. I've looked and looked for ways to take off and modify this thing, but can't find crap. I've wondered this forever, Ac1d, so you're not alone. ;) Please help us someone!

If I remember correctly, 'Customizer2000' allows you to get rid of that folder entirely. Here's the link... http://********afile.com/cgi-bin/merl...now/cstmiz.exe
It's been a while since I used that one, so I don't remember the specifics exactly...but it's a decent program otherwise, anyway.
I wonder why it won't let you delete the reference from inside the menu, though...usually those are .lnk files, aren't they? Maybe search your drives for .lnk files and delete it that way?

what you want is tweakui....google it...you'll love it...free fun and effective...

You can also do a search string in regedit. Then delete the offending key. You'll know it when you see it.

I've deleted the key 1,000,000 times, but when I restart they always come back for some reason. Bleh, this sucks.

If you want a free program to handle it, just get Microsoft PowerToys and use TweakUI. The following version works perfectly on 2000. You'll get the hang of the program pretty quick. There's also a XP version for those with XP.

The add/remove programs/software thing might work. Just a thought even though Juridian's was better...
