Post Your Favorite Tech Movies, I like Tron and that one with that robot johnny 5, i forget the name of it,....
I don't get into to much TV. But I would have to say Swordfish was cool and yea tron was good for the time it was made. But I thank most people would say Starwars was nice I would not know have not seen but 2 of them and they where the old ones.
Zuriel
Swordfish was awesome, action and tech, and I know it was all fake, but it was a good movie.
** MATRIX ** hands down though.
Antitrust was nice.
And billgates891, the movie with "jonny 5" was "Shortcircuit"..

The Matrix definitely has to be in the list. For some reason I still like Total Recall, even as old as it is it is still interesting to watch.
Hackers. :)
T'was a great movie...and still is. And yeah, as you all are saying, Swordfish as well - that was pretty kool.
Greg
Why is it that no one ever mentions Sneakers?????
That has to be one of the best ever. And it was even almost semi-realistic...
I was just about to say the same thing. Everybody should see it, whether they're into it or not.Quote:

ANtitrust was also good. I'm guessing that even though it's fictious, it's hits home on way too many marks.
Hackers, Takedown "The Kevin Mitnick Story", Freedom Downtime "2600's The Kevin Mitnick Story, War Games, Password: Swordfish, AntiTrust, Resident Evil "Hey The Red Queen was a Program"..... There is really too many to include... My Top 3.... AntiTrust, Takedown, & War Games.
Sneakers as is War Games are among some of the greats. I can name multiple Hacker/Technology flicks that were well beyond alot of your scopes, but when a movie is named "HACKERS" everyone and their mother has to watch it. Looking over the posts, and your wondering why Sneakers wasn't mentioned.... Why the hell was WAR GAMES not listed. That is a classic.....
Sneakers, 2001: A Space Oddysey, Minority Report, Matrix...
Laughable ones: Hackers and Jurassic Park (I'm a unix admin and both of these made me LAUGH AND LAUGH about unix)
Pirates of Silicon Valley
must be the greatest PC history movie I have ever seen
I feel ashamed for not remembering it right off the bat. Shame on me!Quote:

wargames....
my favorite part is when he's in his room hacking, and he has to stop to turn the 8.75" disk over...lol
I absolutely loved sneakers. It took over 3 years to get my roommate to watch it, even though he went to college for computers and all...I would have figured anyone who likes this kind of stuff would at least watch tech movies once just for kicks.
you want to laugh you Aznit off? Go to PBS Kids website & check you CyberChase.
This is the worst excuse for a TV Show, and I don't care if it is for children 3 & younger. It is terrible.

Send in the Clones
Topic: Multiplication
Hacker's plan to clone himself so he can wreak havoc throughout cyberspace in many places at once, goes haywire when his newly invented Clonitron clones Delete instead of himself. But Hacker takes advantage of the mishap by sending the Delete clones to takeover the R-Fair City cybersite. To complicate matters, every time Delete sneezes – his clones multiply even more. As the problem escalates, the kids do the math to keep track of the number of clones as they increase. Meanwhile, Cy Clone, a famous clone catcher sent to the site by Motherboard, vacuums up the clones – while Digit tries to get the Clonitron away from Hacker. The Big Idea: Multiplication is just repeated addition. If you're having trouble multiplying, you can always add to find your answer.
Another semi-computer related that I can think of is Pi, since the guy used a really bizarre computer to find patterns in the stockmarket.
Of course Hackers1 and Hackers2,Swordfish,Wargames, Antitrust,Blownad Traffic
Hey, there was also "The Net" with Sandra Bullock :)
One hilarious mistake in that movie: at one time she traceroutes an IP with one byte value higher that 255 (something like 123.67.364 .12). Lol, I wonder if that was on purpose so noone would try that IP, like "555-" phone numbers ;)

Swordfish because of Halle Berry and the Matrix because of the cool fight scenes.
Also short circuit : ``Number 5 is alive!``
Please do not refer to TakeDown as Hackers II.
does any1 remember the name of a movie that had a robot that was like a goverment killing machine then turned in2 a toy and he like picked up bulets instead of foam darts after awhile and some other stuff?
I liked swordfish the best, One thing I cant stand is how fack they make the hacking look like take the movvie hackers, I liked the idea of the hole movie but the hacking was too fack, come on a worm doesnt look like that. I just wish for once they showed a movie that where real hacking tools are used.
Does anyone have a good site to dl divx movies besides kazaa and morpheous?
I know what your talking about, I think the movie was like morpher or something, everytime it was beaten it transformed into a harder player....
I like wargames, hackers, antitrust, matrix....and any other corny techno movie i can get my eyes on.
The only thing I wish is that the movie makers would make a movie that showed real hackers making real hacks and showing what they do.. I feel it would kill some of the negative hype the media has stamped on us computer freaks.
Wargames is ace, Johnny Mnemonic rocks because it is based on the William Gibson short story, and I have to give a mention to Brazil because I just love the computers they have in that, a cross between the futuristic and archaic matched perfectly! Or what about the Gibson in Hackers? Now there was a quality machine...lol
XXX
I like Swordfish, AntiTrust, The Matrix, The Net (first good movie I've seen dealing with identity theft), Hackers (a classic. :-)) and **Virtuosity** (hehe How can you go wrong with a computer with the minds of killers coming after Denzel Washington?!?!)
AJ
the Johnny number 5 movie is called SHORT CIRCUIT!
illv//
Sneakers with Robert Redford. He was such a babe in that movie. I've seen AntiTrust it wasn't bad. It sounded like it was really related to microsoft and spyware and such it kind of made you think who could be watching you. Hackers was a killer it had the awesome sound track and it was just so funny. AcidBurn had a 28.8mps modem. wow talk about back in the day.
Yea Vorlin , On jurassic park , that was some funny **** when the girl thought she knew UNIX , i probably laughed just as hard as you did , great **** man.

What about the computer wore tennis shoes, you have a computer and shoes, what more could you want?
I Like Wargames , Hackers , The Matrix , Robin of Locksley was pretty corny , swordfish was ok , Turbulance 3 :heavy metal had some tech , the net , and i know there was some new movie with robert deniro that had some tech. But my all time favorite movie was "hackers" even though it was corny , some things were still true.It is still the best movie though , because the whole movie was dedicated to hacking and nothing else.

Matrix, AntiTrust, and Sneakers...heh
what about weird science. If computers spawned errors like that, less people would hate microsoft.
war games was a really cool movie, and what about terminator 2? it's somewhat computer related and stuff. was a great movie too.
I would have to say that my favorite tech movie of all time is an old one. Who here can remember Robot Jox or Robot Wars?
After that Matrix, Hackers, Wargames, The Net and a few others that were mentioned in this post are all great tech movies.
Peace out
good movie but kinda fake is Swordfish. I also like Matrix, Antitrust.
Hackers is still a funny movie to watch. ;)
Heheheh.. I'm a UNIX admin too, and I laughed at those two quite heartily as well.Quote:

(as a fully 3d animated graphical filetree zooms in on what we assume are executable directories with helpful names like 'Door Security, You Dummy!') I about fell on my butt in hysterics.Quote:
It's a UNIX system!
My Top 8... not in order
Hackers - A classic
Tron - This movie use the real computer terminology and hacking is like riding cool plastic bike
WarGame - Wardialing!
The Net - funny
Swordfish - Great special effect and some bimbo do nasty trick ;-)
Ennemy of the state - Big Brother is Watching you ;-)
Antitrust - The evil empire of Microsoft inspire movie writers
The Matrix - Hack the Matrix ;-)
WOW i never thought my post would have gotten that many responses
Speaking of tech movie, I just saw "The Bourne Identity" tonight.. Not really tech related but according to the movie the CIA uses Windows 98! Lol ;)
(If anyone wants to see for themselves, early in the movie, in the CIA office, they look up the guy's profile and they have the start menu opened where you can read "Windows 98" ;) Might have been 95 actually, the screen was a little blurry ;) )
