AO's 100,000th member
just noticed that the member list is getting awfully close to the big 100...looks like it'll hit sometime in the next 8 days or so (at about 250 new members a day)...
quite a feat JP...congrats......and to the 150 or so regular posters who make this corner of the web so...well...addicting...cudo's to ya'll
-
and you almost posted 600 posts. If you post it the same time we reach the 100,000, it's time for big party !!!! :D
-
And there are more members than there are posts... 93,117 posts in 11,108 threads (don't ask, I was bored).
-
100 000 members. WOAW!!
I don't know how are the database of the site but it could be an idea to clean up all of these.
And 250 new members by day. I'm also impressed by this number. It is the result of a good download section. ;)
-
How would it relate to pageviews?
-hey, i'm the master of boredom-
-
I think the 100,000 person to sign up, should get a little "I am the 100,000th member!" thing just near their name, (where the "I helped bail JP out" thing is.
Great acheivement,
zigar: don't make any more posts and then when there's 100,000 members, make a post and that will give you your 600!
PranKster
PS: Dont think he'll be able to last that long without posting. ;-)
-
isnt that one of the signs of the apocolypes?
i think we should all be worried.
-
damn if all those members were active posters... sh*t we'd have a lot o' posts hehe :) we would never have time to read 'em all hehe :D
the big 100 r0x! w00tage!

I'm guessing that a lot of those accounts are script kidz who download a few viruses fu*ked up their computer and never came back.
-
CWK9: Indeed. I can see why JP doesn't want to get rid of defunct accounts, they probably don't cause the system that much slowdown, and the sheer statistic can be useful... but it's a misleading statistic. I would like to see the stats (they don't have to be publicized) about the number of people who registered and post or lurk, as opposed to the download-only accounts.
-
Wow, the big 100,000 is almost finally here~! This calls for a celebration. ;)
-
I wonder how many have been banned, and what the total would be if banned members were
deducted.
-
That party would need an awfully big cake...not to mention the ice cream and decorations... ::birthday
just on a side note (assuming we ever find out), who wants to start betting on some of the stats in the profile (gender, OS, etc.)? :deal:
-
but every 1knows this is the best community on the net no wonder ppl r so eager 2 join kudos 2 jp for making antionline the community it is 2 day
-
I have often wondered about the number of active posters a AO. Is the number that Zigar mentioned, 150, accuarate? And what is that number based on? Return frequency?
I'd be interested.
Anyhoo - Congratulations AO and all who sail on her :)

lamers
how many of those 100k plus are just lamers out for a few virii to try and use on their friends?? so far ive only seen about 20 active posters, probly more but im just starting to be active in the forums( i lurked for a while so i dont sound too stupid ) so im sure theres more somewhere...
-
100,000 members AO may have, but I reckon there's only about 1,000 regular posters, most of whom have been registered since near the beginning anyway (although newer members have joined and made substantial contributions - e.g. ntsa in the tutorials forum). The 100,000 figure is misleading, although it does look good for JP!
I think it would be good if, along with the number of registered users, we had a total of active users. How you would work this out would be debateable, I suppose you could count everyone who had either logged in within the last fortnight and/or posted within the last month, or something along those lines.
-
Hey...
Quote:
Total Members: 98665
Are there over a thousand members banned over the last few hours, or what?
-
i just looked at that before i came back in here, i dont now what everyone is getting so excited about, it'll probably be another week or so before we get to 100,000
-
w000000000t! 100,000! w00000000000000t!
-
It would be nice if the 100,000th AO user is actually a legit new user, and not a lamer re-registering. That would make it just a bit more festive..
