Arrogant enemies? They see us AMERICANS as arrogant? Well. . . . I have to agree with that partially. We dont know how good we have it over here till we visit other countries & see what they have to live through. Yes. . . . our freedom has blinded us to an extent. But I feel that these threats are just ment to stir up America again. Get us to waste more money placing armed guards in places that dont need them. . . . I dont know. What do you all think about this? Do you agree about how we are "blinded"?

I think America has never had to deal with terrorism before. . .I think that we are trying to prevent things from happening that we have no control over to make up for our shortsightedness w/ 9-11. I think the AlQuada want to take the 'holy war' to a planet wide level and our Pres. and Chief would love to jump in with both feet. After that, I don't know, don't think about it, dont' want to.

i just love how they use allahs name to justify everything. allah certainly loved us when we gave them stingers to kill the russians, but now, oh no we put a military base in saudi arabia-they dont like that so thet say allah wants us dead. they are a hypocracy, we are watching out for our people. at least untill recently (see my rant thread)

It's definitely not unknown in the fact that religion has caused more wars than anything else. Add in politics to the mix and you get some very bad stuff. See, RS, the problem here is that the people saying these things feel they've been slighted by the American People or whatever and they're blinded by their "faith". They can't see the forest for the trees and assume every American is bad and must die/suffer/etc. Very few times I got to see some of those groups in Saudi Arabia and you could just see the "hatred" seeping out of their glares. And who are we to them? Hell, my dad worked for the Saudi government (considering the airlines was also government funded) so why would we be considered hated when we're in the same country. Not to mention, overall, you have NO rights as an american on their soil. Period. Over here, they can do whatever the ***** they want, live how they want, live in ways that are IMPOSSIBLE back "home in the holy land", yet we got treated like complete sh*t over there. All 10 years. Over here, if a muslim got pulled over for whatever, not only could they say whatever they wanted, claim racism/class separation/whatever, and get off, but then they could campaign on it later. Over there, my dad got pulled over for having 5% tint on the back windows of his 1979 Land Cruiser (it was put on two days earlier). Not ONLY did he get pretty bad treatment verbally but the "cop" took his keys and said "Remove. Now." while taking the keys and running them over the tint on the inside, effectively scratching it all up on all windows. Meanwhile, mercedes and other higher-class cars with arabs are roaring past with 50+% tint on ALL windows and nothing happens to them. If he had said so much as anything deemed bad, he'd have been arrested right there for God knows how long.

Moral of that novel: why the "hatred"? If I could ask them, I'd want to know why they "hate" Americans. Why do other countries who've been in civil wars for the past 100+ years continue to hate even though we may bail out/etc. Sure, we've supplied weapons (and for that, I think the politicians need to own up to the military lost/etc) but we also do a lot of good things for the world and they claim none of this except their own personal wars.

God + People + Force = Reason to do anything

They are being chased out of every mountain in thier own home land, and atleast 90% of their cells located in the US has became a custom to our lifestyles and don't want to go back. If anything was going to happen, they would call all their cells back to their homeland. Win the war there, and then make threats. As for the people that are scared of something happening. Just move to North Dakota or Alaska they will never find you there. The only thing we would have to worry about is if Iraq came to us, while we were there. That would throw off the balance greatly. While we were pulling out of Afg to come fight the war on our home land our allies would be to wide spread with the massive was on terror. ****.... that would be the official start of WW III.

I really don't mean it but sometime I feel that way, but allas we have become a great global economy with wide spread internet access were news travels around the world in the blink of an eye. Do you think these things where not happening 50 years ago... of course they where and most likely they where a lot worse we just did have CNN/M$NBC/ABC/CBS/NBC/et.al. there with a camera tell you how bad it is. Everyone wants their peice of America becuase this is the land where you can go down the street and say what you want without ending up behind bars, where you can still make a buck by working hard, (ok at least .50) And it is greed, pride, and jeolousy that rears its ungly head...On everyones part including ours (America that is) And I love this country I am proud to be here and to live here, it is an honor and priledge that was given to be by my parents, but and I don't want anyone to inhibit my rights or freedoms. including our own goverment. Maybe we should make everyone carry a gun in this country that way no one would dare mess with anyone else. (sarcasm again, but you know what I mean)

Once again, the people who have provided the world with most of the best ideas like religous toleration and multicultural society, and the best free tools - like in INTERNET - are slammed by a bunch of intolerant monocultural Nazis!

As another poster observed, these people can't wait to send their kids to the US where they can get the best healthcare and education in the world. Then at the same time - out of the other side of their sneering faces - they claim a religious zeal to destroy that which they love. So, they are no better emotionally then little brat kids who break their toys and are disrespectful to their parents.

I have absolutely no problem with profiling these visitors (the ones holding visas - NOT US citizens) and sending them all back home so they can live in the paradise that they have created. I am well aware that our universities will need to find other "customers" for their services. I will honestly miss them. Like most Americans, I like different cultures. Most cities and towns in the US have German-American festivals, St. Patrick Day festivities, Greek festivals, and here in the midwest Lebanese-American and Syrian restaurants and other middle-eastern cultural activities.

So, when others in the world think that we are parochial, that shows their ignorance!

And laughingly, when these jihadis scream their epithets at "Americans", they are also including their own kind in their hatred. We are not all Anglo-Saxon! We are German, French, Lebanese, Syrian, Egyptian, Moroccan, Italian, Swiss, Australian, atc.

AMEN!!! I agree with the profiling issue... I have to problem with this. SInce most of problem arrise from a small group of folks, then lets just focus our attention there. Not 100% but a major part of it. Let's face it my 80 year old Grandma is not a terrorist and she should not have to go through the same rigid scrutiny that a young middle eastern male should. Sorry if that offens anyone but ..... that's how I fell... I have NO problem with other races or religions whatever... but let's have a little common sense...

I wish I had the statistics here for the racial breakdown of people arrested compared to the breakdown of convictions.

Excuse me, but the problem (at least as the government wants us to believe) is rooted in religion, not race. Now, for instance, take a random Indian/Pakistani. Are they Muslim? Please guess for each of these 50 people, and we'll check your accuracy and THEN let them go from groundless arrests to their disrupted and invaded lives. Now, we try the same experiment with someone ELSE who an ignorant public or highway cop might think suspicious... How about a 3rd generation immigrant from Saudi Arabia?

Common Sense that is all that anyone can ask for... A thrid generation Saudi Arbian is less likely to be a suspect then someone here on a student visa. But everyone need to understand there have to be questions asked of everyone...

Sorry, I just saw a bit of humor in this....probably not really a humorous subject though.

The question is not one of hatred and certainly not one of religion.

It was stated earlier that religion was the cause for more wars. Anyone who studies military history should realize that it is not religion that starts wars it is the hunger for Power, control, and greed. Religion is the excuse used to get the common man to fight the war that will bring the ruler or ruling class the power, land, and money they desire.

So what is the cause for warfare in the Middle East. Some will say it is the Jewish Homeland and that America is targeted because of our involvement with Israel. Then how do we justify all of the warfare and unrest before the Jews established a homeland there. What about the Mahdi uprisings, the Hindu/Muslim conflicts, the inter muslim wars. The region is one that has only felt peace when controlled by a strong empiracle government (Ottoman, Seljuk, Persian, Median, Tartar, Byzantine). Whenever one of these empires fell the region erupted into multiple wars until one group would sieze and ruthlessly maintain dominance over the region.

America is not the country to do this therefore we should tread very lightly in immersing ourselves into a conflict that has few positive outcomes and many negative possibilities. We should also be very careful in trying to change our actions to please a group of people who have historically (and I mean back to antiquity) shown that they feel there is no room for compromise and weakness shown is strength gained.

I am proud to be an American, I am proud to be in a country which gives more money, per capita than any other nation in the world to other nations. I am proud to be in a country where our poor people are fat (as am I), I am proud to be in a nation where race problems are attacked (not conquered) and where they don't involve genocide. I am proud that in our nation we have not treated muslims the way they treat us in their nations, even after being heavily provoked by terrorist acts.

So don't talk to me about religious differences, speak to me about cultural ones and I certainly believe that our culture, with all of its flaws, is far superior to one that refuses to even believe it can have flaws.

Sorry for the rant but it felt good.

Funny you should say that because that's how long ago that last reply to this was. Check dates before replying to things as most of the time when someone replies to a REALLY old thread like this, people get annoyed.

And when it's basically a one liner post that didn't really add anything new, it's even more so. If you want to reply to really old threads it's best to make sure you're going to add something that is REALLY a big deal, and not just one line of AOL kiddie.

We leave old ones open. Generally because the only replies are either from people who wanted to ask something about it, or because someone who was in that thread comes back and wants to reply to something said back when they were last on. Most of the people in this thread aren't even really active anymore.

As I was saying; If you're going to make a reply to a thread more than a year old, make sure it's needed. Otherwise, just start a new thread, and maybe link to it saying you were commenting on something about it.
