This was discussed very recently. Search through the archives to find it. Basically, it comes down to this, since you're running Windows 98, you'll need a third-party tool to password protect a folder.

I remmeber using an application to do that, 'cause I am not sure that Windows 98 can offer you this type of protection.
Here are two:
1) Hide Folders
2) Lock & Protect
Statisfied?
Just wanting to say thanks for the replys.
Hi,
There are a lot of freeware around that u could try at http://www.webattack.com. I had the same requirement as u had and had downloaded MAXCRYPT at this link http://www.webattack.com/freeware/se...wencrypt.shtml ; I tried it and it really does the job. Just be careful not to loose yr password. Good Luck

PGP also has some options to encrypt. There is a freeware version available.
Check out www.pgpi.org or just do a search on PGP
You might also try GNU Privacy Guard at http://www.gnupg.org . It is a free, open source application similar to PGP.

Im would consider this folder protection, but it does keep your files safe, its a little tool called scramdisk, you can get it here: www.samsimpson.com
I would have to say that you should go with the PGP freeware, it is an encryption program that works great. I have been using it for almost 2 years and have had no problems.
As for Noia, I know that PGP FW works on XP Professional and 2000 just fine.
Hope this assists you in making a decision on how to passwd protect your computer.
