Spy-Ware
Ok I will have to re-confirm some things but well I usually update my systems last. I did some Win updates ok some over a year old after I installed the newest version of Ad-Ware. Funny after the M$ released patches I had 13 hidden spyware programs, Bright Digital all over the place, pesky Cydoor also several places, doubleclick few others. But this can be one of two things even Ad-ware has spyware attached or that M$ has in some vague terms in their update EULA's said but not informed me a way I can understand that 3rd parties spy-ware are now included in their patches? Oh this system my sons Win98 PIII 1.5 gig last scan of the system was yesterday Win updates today. Anyone want to load the latest version of Ad-ware do a scan and then updat Win 98 SE see what is installed as spyware?

Palemoon.....the spyware you mentioned is usually found bundled in with Kazaa, and I would venture to guess that this may be the origin of said spyware. Grab a copy of kazaa lite for the boy....it has all the scum...er, ah SPYWARE stripped out. :)

Nope I clened the system off and the Kazaa stuff long ago, ran weekly scans issue is last 2 days the crap was back, and yep I have logs only two opijts it came from either lavasoft which makes no sense cause any spyware there would be found after the install. This is why I want to attempt to confirm things I know what he is doing on his computer and me as a host to his connect. Funny though kidz load this stuff I as a parent catch it...but he is not of legal age nor can give premission, me thinks a ton of under age kids are being had here and that is not right no new law need be had adults cannot understand EULA's..but as an adult just because it is a computer it will not make it right...forget the porn..ad people are exploiting children! And they are right in doing so?

im sorry, but did you say in your post that 'ad-aware' has spyware bundled into itself, im not sure if i understood you right.

Palemoon, It seems rather weird that Microsoft would install third party spyware when they can have their own spying tools directly in the patch. I really doubt it came with the patches and it surely didn't come with Ad-Aware. There has to be another source you overlooked...
-
How do you find spyware in your computer ?
-
Download Ad-Aware from here . It will find spyware and remove it from your system... It has always done a good job for me...
-
Its strange that you`ve found spyware after downloading the patches I`ve downloaded all the upto date patches and also use adaware but never found that spyware came with either one I would suggest checking your other programs.

Had Hybris restore a Registry on a 18month old computer... the registry was from the original/ Delivery Installation from 18months b4..
So the question is.. and not thinking of a virus.. is it possable that an old registry fragment has been re inserted..
Also In Ad-Aware you can back up the sections of your registry you are about to delete.. is it possable (assuming that you did back it up) that the .reg file could have been accidently "opened" therefor restoring the old registry settings?
only a thought.. an I will have to check my own systems and monitor what is happening..
ien compare the registry b4 to after Patch updates, and B4 and After installing Ad-Aware..
BTW: Geez don't comet Curser leave some krap on systems.. 168 registry entries alone..
Cheers

I would recommend Spybot Search and Destroy if you're looking for anti-ad software.
It seemed to spot a load of stuff Ad-aware missed and even scans for keyloggers, trojans, and all sorts of lovely stuff.
