hahaha, or LOL
haha, OMG this is soo embarrasing but i gotta tell you all.
this really happened to me.
i was down at the local, and in amunst friends a joke was being told. at the end there was an uproar of laughter as the whole pub had heard it. and in my laughter, instead of the common HAHAHA, i managed to scream out LOL. haha, everyone sorta just looked at me as if i had lost it and needed a doctor.
hmm, maybe i need to spend less time on the net....nah, that would mean going without AO and then were would i be >>> totally lost thats where.
anyway, i found it embarrasing while others found it funny and wierd all at the same time.
-
hehehehe, "lol hebben" actually means "having fun" in dutch.... but it still sounds weird if you just say LOL when someone makes a joke.... to be honest, i had that to a few times
oh well, at least you didnt try to say LMAO or ROFL.... or ROFLMFAO even.
-
haha....That can't be good....
I'v never said Lol out loud, but I did know a guy who did, he did it all the time, he also said "y", which in English is fine, but we were both from Norway so....hehe....it sounded REALLY weird...
oh well......l8r

hehe, well im glad its not only me who has done it. and im definately glad i didnt try a stunt like that: ROFLMAO
-
I have to admitt. I do that very often. And yes sickdwarf, i also go "rofl" sometimes. By now my friends know what this means, but in the beginning they were looking at me like i was some sorta something. LOL.
Cool post though ;)
-
Whoohoo,
I'm not the only one who this has happened too. Even like SickDwarf said in dutch it sounds weird. Once while using MSN a friend asked me something and I replied brb.
I came back and I saw some question marks... hehe.
Antionline
Ao-ers don't know the meaning of social life , Do you ? ;)
Greetz,
-
i get that all the time shrekkie. things like brb or wb.
everytime i say wb after they dced and came back they go what the hell. and i have to explain it to them. Welcome Back. and the reply, Ohh, ok. thanks
but yea, i thought i would post this thread and see how many people really dont have a social life and is dependant on AO and cyber worlds.

hehe I have gone LOL before in real life. My friend thought it was funny and started doing it also. :)
-
I too have done the LOL before. . .Although unlike uraloony, my friends thought I was nuts. I need some computer geek friends. . <sniff>
-
Hello my name is Rachel and it's been one day since my last linguistic-screw-up. I complained about a co-worker who sent inflammatory email about me to someone else by stating that she had "negged" me.
I know there's a world out there which I should get out and explore but the warm glow of my screen is so comforting. ; )
-
Something like that happened to me on the phone.
-
LOL, I though I was the only one who went around saying lol without knowing it in real life until someone points it out to me...
Maybe all that time in irc is warping my mind....... lol :-)
-
I had a mate in computer class way back about 3 years ago in year 12 do the exact same thing. we just looked at him and said "dude you been spending to much time on the net haha"
-
I usually say BWAHAHAHAAA in chats... Once in a bar my friend told a joke and I was like "BWAHAHAAAA". Pretty... ow... pretty notrmall actually.
<Neel ubertip>
Just say HAHA in all yer chats when you normally say lol ;)
A thing I had more trouble with is the word "uber". Besides Antionline and Happyhacker and Adolf Hitler, noone seems to use that. I had one time a friend gave me something to drink and it tasted like gasoline (wich is pretty good actually) and I said something like "whoa this **** is uber".
In some MSN chats I said w00t. Noone new what it ment really...
I never said lol because in dutch it does have a meaning...
-
See now if I do that around my friends they expect that, does that mean I'm too much of a geek? Though I've never done it in a big croud of people who didn't know me, very nice 123!
-
Easy!
Just say "W00T!!"
Sorry, just feeling like I am wooted to my beliefs (or my chair ) :rolleyes:
-
LOL i am using this to and my friend have the same opinion .. But now they are used to it !
It is not a crime you know ? :)
Good post "LOL" :)

Heh, I've never said 'LOL' out loud, but jokingly I've told some of my friends to 'scroll up' in a conversation when they say 'huh?'
Gotta love it.

Well my big Online/RL faux pas came about when I was talking with my wife about someone who was not high on my respected list. Finally I blurted out "I can't help it, he's a walking AFK." Took me a bit to explain what that meant.
Wite Hachie here are some more used commonly, some specifically for gaming
AFK = Away From Keyboard or A Free Kill
Walking AFK = Someone who is so bad that they are worthless to their team
brb = Be Right Back or Bath Room Break
l8r = Later
ty = Thank you
np = No Problem
yw = You're Welcome
STFU = Shut The F Up which is what I will do now.
-
Hi all!
Thanks for your huge help. That was a kind of a situation with "...he's a walking AFK..." ,SodaMoca5?????
LOL...Thanks again.
Hear of you.
Wite Hachie. : ))))))
-
I do it all the time, sometimes my dad asks "have you see my drivers license" than I say without thinking about it, I say "lol" :D
then you get this --> :argue:
-
I've never said LOL out loud, but then I rarely type it out .
{/me use hahaha instead}
Every now and then, I'll say "w00t points to you", and
usually get a strange/confused look.
:confused:
