Hey I wanted to ask I can program in Basic Allpurpose Symbolic Instructional Code(BASIC)
and its a really crude programming language. I wanted to no if there are any more advanced languages that use the same basic commands and strings.

If you can program BASIC effectively than you are on your way to learning a higher level programming language. Gotta take the plunge eventually. My reccomendations if you are interested in making business apps ---> C/C++ if you want to make web apps ---> Java. Otherwise take you pick

How about Visual Basic? or VB.NET?
I just learned visual basic a while ago. I think its pretty good, from what I know of C/C++ They really arent alike execpt some of the declaration statements and such. I dont really know much basic but I would go into VB for awhile then on into C++, but thats just me. You could take a quick look through each language and see whichs ones the right one for you.
There was a version of BASIC called QuickBasic that would compile your progs
into EXEs (BASIC progs usually run as scripts), but that was for msdos.
Basic evolved in to VisualBasic, and that's where it stands today,
unless you only want to program for DOS.

I would definitely recommend for everyone to read Dijkstra's lecture -- it's short!
Basic is a great one to start with. C/c++ i like better because there more efficant the programs run faster and i think better than most. And Java for wep apps is a great one.
Try visual Basic or C Language
VB is ok if you're in too much of a hurry to use a more complete language (drag & drop does save time), and also if you're only interested in developing for Windows. Java is nice, & not as difficult to learn as C or C++. Some of the best advice I received regarding my own development as a programmer was to not get so caught up in which language to use. Language choice is important, but not as important as logic / design / etc. If I use the most expensive paint to paint a rusted car, I still just have a rusted car (i.e. a weak structure).
