Avatar Contest

Hey guys,

found something interesting about an avatar contest, which seems that most people think is a good idea, so i thought i would start it off, however, i didnt know how the last avatar contest was run so i will get some ideas and see what happens along the way.

i gotta go now so i wont get your responses till tomorrow, feel free to start now if its just one of those things that you gotta nominate someone, also, if thats the case, i dont think you should nominate yourself, kinda defeats the purpose.

Hi ,

Mine is too obvious , though I like it and it's gonna stay... I also think it should be a recognition of the person on AO. Often I see first the avatar in a thread before the nick and knowing most common members.

As I would say... I like the current one of Xacidreign and the one from Negative...

Well, if we are going to have another contest for avatars, I'll throw in my vote for Cookie Tux ({P²P}Apocalypse) and for the reigning champ, Ennis, with his Dancing Man... That little dude just doesn't stop dancing!

i altered a picture i found of Google. it's not very good. Moby Dick was clearly a white whale, not a red whale. hehe. until my image editing skills improve or i find a better picture i'm sticking with it.

I made mine in PSP 6. it was just a picture from rocktoons.com and i cut it out and stuck it on the back ground. pretty cool, eh...

Does anyone have a different/better animated avatar of a runner? My current one is a picture of Michael Johnson and while he is certainly a very good runner he's not the kind of person you'd find running in the street (like me :) ).

Oh please, could we all stop pretending I don't have the very best avatar on the site? Okay, maybe he only appeals to me (and a few others here ;) ) but he's still the best av on the site :D

Well, with the last contest, any avatar was accepted - if you created it, cool, but if you got it from somewhere else, that was cool too.. I'm not sure if it was said anywhere about this time around...

perhaps those with avatars aquired elsewhere might give credit where credit is due?

That being said, mine is actually two icons that I had a friend edit into a full apple over a bsd daemon (thank you bsd), and then he just started eating the apple 'till its "core" is apparent.

It is in the process of being updated, to include better resolutions and instead of the bsd daemon, it will have Huxely, the Darwin mascot instead (who is a variation of the bsd daemon in a cute and fuzzy way).

Hopefully I will have that up soon, and I will trace down the links to the sites where I aquired the icons from, so that everything is on the up and up.

Not sure on avatars, but they did hold one for the present AO logo. Coincidentally, it was won by memory who has posted just above you there. I think that's right....
