SPAM! i see you are getting flamed over there to
http://forum.defcon.org/showthread.php?threadid=1296
ok, so um, its spam to advertise their forums but not to advertise the Defcon Meetings? I am really confused here prodikal, mabey you should reconsider your statement.
why he said
To me that is just Advertiseing ! plain and simple there is no point as to why we should go there and for what reaosn no article to read well read my quote again !Quote:
That aint my fault maybe something your eating ?Quote:

I give up, you guys contradict yourself. It's not just a bbs site, so your statement is false as well. If you guys dont approve of Defcon, mabey ALL of us are part of the WRONG community.
And mabey he was just bringing attention to the site so that more people could be aware of it. Many people are not aware of the conferences, I learned about them on THIS VERY BOARD, and I am gratefull for it.
what do you think would get said to him if he posted the same 3 line post at defcon saying
Cool community
good forms
www.antionline.com ?
IMO i think they would considor it spamming aswell maybe if he refrased his post it wouldnt be spamming but to me that is spam plain and simple spam
EDIT tampabay must have deleted his post
and Cross read this post if you dont aggree with my opinion thats fine but i would considor this spam
I agree with Prodikal.
SPAM
SPAM is bad.
I say, "Hey! Spam! :flip:"
I dont see any way that this can be spam. Definition of "SPAM" = An Unsolicited Advertisement.
How is this unsolicited? Ok, mabey it's an advertisement, but it's not spam. You choose to look, you choose to read. It's all up to you.
It's like calling a cracker a hacker, very bad terminology
Also I .
Prodikal has made good observations
Out of curiosity, are you Negging all of the people advertising all of their "new" sites they are building? They dont have any references to any articles or anything else either. You cant go Halfway with this guys, if this is a bad advertisement, then so are half the posts on the main page, go take a look, I can quote quite a few if you would like. Think about it even if you dissagree. I'm not trying to be a pain, but you guys are very contradictive and hipocratic. ALL OR NONE, MAKE UP YOUR MIND! I'm sick of this 'we'll accept this, but not that' kind of BULL
Gezz.... its not like this guy couldn't just put it up into his signature. Instead I guess he thought it'd be a good idea to try and make a few low quality threads so we'd spread flame. And besides... I don't know if you've noticed but when you checkout the recordings of defcon you'll notice that each year you can see & hear more & more peaple there.... its not like they need billboards and 24 hours per day comercial advertising. So why try and ruin it with all this lameness?
Of course it was SPAM!
As your definition states Spam = An unsolicited advertisement
Unsolicited = Not looked for or requested
Maybe im mistaken but no-body requested this link, did they?
you did when you clicked on it. Thread title=Defcon You clicked for MORE INFORMATION. How dense are you guys anyway?
If we'd all follow that logic, these boards would be empty, r3b00+ ;)
Although I have to agree that Public bookmarks would have been a better place to put this link... if anyone ever looks at those, that is.
Chill... maybe we could turn this thread into an informative thread about DefCon 11... most users here never visited DefCon, and most won't ever have a chance to visit it.
The Book list for instance looks nice.
as you said earlier they have meetings and stuff and i though it was information on some new project defcon had going or something but to my disapointment it was just a link to www.defcon.org with 2 lines before it saying cool forms and a cool community to me that is SPAM
I'm planning on going to the next DefCon to sit in and see what it's all about. Any one else planning on going already?
