This is a Slackware 8.1 machine with Enlightenment. The theme is Fossils of the Machine, but the background of Mars is from either the aphex or anomoly theme (I can't remember which.) GkrellM is monitoring the box in the lower right, and you can see two E-term windows open with transparency enabled.
What have you done to yours?

I'll show off... it's only Win 2k.. but it's running litestep with the ExpOS them.. I like it... my desktop still sucks (XP still doesn't like litestep a lot) but it's nice on 2k.
Ok....you guys have got the sh*t going on on your desktops!! Mine is VERY boring by comparsion...actually, it's boring even NOT by comparison.
Mine is winXP home, except I have the win2000 desktop option enabled (I hate all the curvy xp buttons). I'm a pretty big minimalist and you can definitely see this in my desktop. I have no icons (except for the blasted recycle bin!!!) . In my task bar all I have is my command prompt, Visual C++, my masm editor, active ports, music download folder, and IE. The background is my favorite place on earth.....Sante Fe, NM (in the snow).
Mandrake Linux 9.0, KDE 3.1 running gkrellm and Xawtv ....
Damn you Phat_Penguin, where did you download KDE3.1 from, I'v been looking for that, also, care to share the Background and the Hardware Monitor sites? I want I want I want...

Notice the warm background to warm the -30C days ;)
(BTW the background is from digitalblasphemy.com, so is phat_penguin's I believe...)

Here is my desktop on my Mandrake 9.0 box under KDE 3.0.
I believe that the wallpaper was taken from Themes.org.
I would also like to add that I think KNOPPIX v3.1 has the nicest looking default desktop.

Look at this. Here is something that I did a while back, but nobody ever checked it out. For all of those Windows users out there, you'll wish you downloaded this earlier.

There are two posts/attachments there. The first is a simple folder preview. The second one is the standard folder preview. If you've played around with folder customizations, you'd know the difference. Good luck.
BTW, I haven't worked on an Image Preview version of my Folder View. Considering only 7 people downloaded the SIMPLE folder preview, and nobody downloaded the STANDARD one, I had a reason to discontinue it... If interest sparks up again, I'll work on it. :D
My background is simple and one of the defaults. My text backgrounds have been picked carefully to make them blend in well. And for the time being, my Active Desktop is pretty much disabled. (I have my "fly", but it is on a different PC right now.)

Ok, same exact box, but I've been very bored today so I've been playing.
The theme is now 23 oz of glass,
The background comes from evolution.
Tomorrow you will have to suffer while I play with themes on my BSD machine.

..... a friend with a broadband connection grabbed it from somewhere and ripped it to a cd for me, so the best I can do is for you to drop me a PM with an address, post office box or whatever and I will rip you off a copy and post you out the cd ....
The monitoring stuff is just gkrellm (invisible skin theme) with the lmsensors configured .. lmsensors & gkrellm are on your 9.0 cd's.

I have a laptop. Its a Toshiba thats running XP, combo-drive, 1.5Ghz, active matrix, REALLY great sound, I think like 20gig or so... For some reason it came with AOL and like 4 browsers that I have never even touched. I just did some cleaning and im not done yet but its still a fairly good looking/running PC.
On my screen it has a transparent taskbar with very few icons & a background that DarkRaider gave me.

well, I said I might post another one... here is one of the linux boxes... only running Mandrake 8.1 but I like it... this picture was (like many other folks here) taken from deviant art... although I did change it a bit i.e. the water was originally blood red and I added the 'zoom' effect and altered the colour balance a little etc. Anyway hope you like

Noia heh :) ... you're not the only one who feels dizzy looking at - it's always screwing my head....but I find it semi addictive to look at and loose myself in. Can't answer why no case pics... I've not quite gone the whole hog and modded my cases yet... but after looking at yours - I'm tempted (again).... nice box by the way

Mine is prity plain right now, I find walpaper images somtimes to be distracting but my mood changes so often, Curently I have a black background, useing explorer as my shell. Im running Win98 SE. Not much to look at, prity simplistic.

My Windows 2000 box isn't too fancy, but I did take good advantage of the quick launch menu on my desktop. I find it really convenient to have 90% of my programs right there and visible all the time.
I updated mine...the background became a little too bright, I settled for a much calmer scene.

I was on my wife's box (there's a joke in there somewhere! :D ) when I came across this thread. It's my bro test driving her new "soft-roader"....It seems to be doing OK, although a little more ground clearance would be nice.... :)

this is my parents machine, it's running a very boring redhat 8. my own machines are freebsd 4.8 and suse. i'll post picture of them next week!
I feel sort of cheated in life now after seeing some of your bad a$$ desktops.
This is my little environment at home. Its just an XP Home box, but it gets the job done somewhat.
Oh yea I dig some of them little clananders, but dont know where to find them :( .
check out redhat 8.0 works pretty good once you update all the fixs :D

I am running Microsoft Windows 2000 Advance Server with Service Pack 3
it tells what i am doing now, try to build multiple level security on my programm.
use SQL Server 2000 with SP2, DBA 7 ADODB command.
