Help !!!
Hello everybody ... I'm 17 years old and I admire computers since I was 4-5th grade ... I live in Sofia, the capital ot Bulgaria ... I've always wanted to learn anything I can about them ... I found about this site and I want to ask you something ... What should I learn to become a network hacker/cracker ... Don't misunderstand me ... I don't want to break down servers or something like that ... It's just that Networking is the thing that I like most in computers ... So ... If you are kind enough would you please tell me what should I learn ??? But please if you do tell me all with details ... I mean when you say Linux explain which one of them is best for networking and this kind of things ...
Thank you all

I dont think anyone in here is going to help you be a "hacker/cracker" read the sticky's.
edit
and read the site FAQ.
Why are you reposting in different forums, once is enough?

First of all, don't flood this site with you ****, second of all if you want to learn about the capital city of a country, http://www.google.com is your best bet, thirdy, there are many books out there that will help you learn, and the people here will try their best, there are many many great people I have met here. Anf finnally, Linux is Linux, we've been over this so manytimes here, it's no even funny, just use alot of them, and see which one you like, if your looking to run a server there's always Trustix (I'm not sure if I'm correct on the spelling) ot TurboLinux. if your looking for a good desktop Linux OS, I'd say go for Mandrake, or RedHat.
Just stop spaming your messages, they willl get answered...

Jenna I guess u r right ... but u have to understand me ... this is the thing that I've wanted all my life ... and I don't know what to do to make it happen ... I know that everybody will laugh at my post but I trully believe that there will be someone that will help me ... this is my only option I don't know from where to start or what to do ... I just need a few advises and that's all ... I don't want everything to be explained to me in simple words ... I will work hard to make my dream come true, but I need some advises ... I hope that there will be someone that will give them to me ... that's all
Micro I know that I have to choose which Linux I have to use ... but there are people that know which Linux is best fo networking and I hope that they will tell me ... read what I've written to Jenna ... And I'm sorry ... I won't be spaming again ... I thought that if I post a thread in one section only the people who enter in will answer me ... once again SORRY ...

Wardog,
Fact of the matter is that no one here is going to help you with learning to become a cracker. What you can learn here is how to better sercure that which you already own. If you want to learn about networking, security, etc, then reading material and classes are going to be your best bet. Go to your local book store and read everything you can get your hands on. I don't have a list of suggested titles, but subjects should begin with some of the following : TCP/IP primers, network topology guides, anything along those lines will aid you in the long run (be forewarned, this barely scratches the surface of the materials. For Classes, Cisco Certifications, Net+ certs and any programming you can get. Along with all this networking material, you should be getting to know all your OS's as well. Don't subject yourself to just a *nix or windows world. Knowledge is power in all aspects of life, technology is just the same. If you can't get the cash up for the hard copy materials, then there is a wealth of information out there on the web (Newsgroups and RFC's (extremely dry reading material) will be your friend.)
If your intentions are noble, then my definitive answer is read all that you can handle, and then read more even still.
Regards,
chefer

*nix systems are powerful, but most of the market revolves around windows for now. Knowledge about all will make you a more proficient engineer.
RFC's can be located here
A good public news system can be located here
remember, knowledge is power, ignorance is bliss. What makes you happier?

Ok, Wardog, if you like networks so much, learn to be a system admin. These are the people that are considered true hackers and they are the ones that deal with servers. Also, learning how to program will get you more into the computer world. Most people recommend c++ which i do recommend to but you can go with the other programming languages out there.
Asking how to become a hacker/cracker her really wont get you anywhere. This site is mainly to help you throught computer problems and how to help secure your networks and computers from crackers. I would recommend that you read the site faq so you can understand what questions to ask and which questions not to.
So if you like networking, learn to be a system admin. Read books, read tutorials, ask questions that arnt asking help on how to do illigeal activities. These are the ways to learn. These are the things i am doing. I have learned a great deal from these people here.
-
Chefer ... I agree with you ... but don't you think that when you know how to break into someting you will know how to protect it ??? For example if you can boost cars with a computer won't you do anything you can to protect your own ??? won't you make up your mind and think of every way YOU can boost a car and do anything to protect your own ???
Madseel ... read what I have wrote to chefer ...

You are right wardog. But no one here will teach you or tell you how to. If you pay attention to what people say here you might pick up ways that you can do this, but you are also learning how to prevent it. If you want to learn to be a cracker go to google and look yourself cuz more than likely no one here will teach you how to.
-
Look Wardog, you dont want to be a "Cracker" like you said that you do. It is pointless and retarded to go and try to break into other peoples stuff that you don't belong in the first place. You can mess up a lot of peoples hard work to whatever it is that your trying to break through. Now what some people do is they actually break into some high security web sites and then tell the person who has the website how to fix whatever it was that allowed them to get into it. Now if you want to do that then thats great but otherwise you need to stop asking how to be a "Cracker" before you get flamed so bad that you wont know what hit you, and also don't post the same thing on more than one forum, your just making MsMittens or whoever it is moderating the forum to have to delete it. If you really have an intrest in computers then you should go ahead and learn C++, Java, Perl, Python, Unix, VisualC++, ect. There are soooo many languages out there for you to learn, but you shouldn't use them for hacking into other peoples stuff. You can get into serious trouble for doing that. If you want to learn these languages then you should go to google and search for it or you can look at the vast amount of post's on this site that talk all about the languages (Go to the tutorials section!!!!). And if you want to know what kind of linux to get then go to the reveiw's section and look at what people have to say or just try a bunch of different ones. Thats all I have to say about this matter.

Chefer What is this RFC ???
Madseel ... seems like you are right ... but this is my philosofy ... If you can do something ... you will know how to prevent it !!! That's why I've asked this question ... I know that it is annoing to some people, but I had to try you know ... :) thanks anyway

RFC = request for comment. It is the way standards develop on the net.
Take a look at this : http://searchwin2000.techtarget.com/...214264,00.html

merged response from earlier post -
My argument is not stating you are wrong about that point. My point is merely the approach that one will take and the direction that they appear to be running with that information. My contention is that anyone who is looking to know how to secure a computer, secure a car, secure a building, whatever you want; they can look to history and current standards to acquire a better understanding of what must be done. Practical application will quickly follow.
Does one try to install a high tech security monitoring system without know the basics about it's functionality or the quirks inherent with it? Whoops, they just opened a vault to the outside world. Not likely. We don't have to think about the matter in terms of security at all. Look at in the terms of an electrician maybe. They need to know all the standards in the field before they go and install an electrical system that will violate code and eventually burn a building down. The electrician must be licensed, and to be licensed they must be educated. That education doesn't come from just asking questions of presupposed peers, but it will come from reading material, internships and so forth. We speak for the same goal, and we speak of a similar means. Get a good understanding of all the groundwork involved, and then learn more about the practical application of such matters. Many higher education facilies, colleges, internships, etc, will offer you much in the way of hands on experience, just be knowledgable before dabbling.

wardog : az sum na irc.hit.bg #hitbg!
To all: ok i've wrote my first advice to wardog on my country language- BULGARIAN! i think its not denied to write in bulgarian if the other side is from bulgaria -too! so don't write me "What " in AntiPoint System! just ask if you don't understand foreighn languages ! maybe next time i'll write in german or spanish or russian, may I ? or i must ask u for permission about lerning and writting ot other languages ?

Schoolsucks ... you understood me right ... I want to do the thing you said - to help making the security better ... and about the posting of the same thing several times ... I said I'm sorry ... It's just my first time posting ... I will know what to do in future ... thanks
Chefer ... Yes I agree .... I want to study ... the thing I'm asking for is some advise what to learn ... because if you want to become an Web designer you wont have to learn about TCP/IP am I right ??? and Thank You about the explanation ...

Wardog, you don't need to break into something to learn how to protect it. If your looking for some guidance on the matter, why don't you start off by getting your A+ certification, it will give you a foundation to begin with, it's considered an entry level certification and from there you can look into networking. If you just jump into networking and don't understand how computers work, you will have problems, so start there. Secondly, if your serious about networking, try looking into a cisco certification, maybe Network + . When you say you want to learn to hack/crack, then you sound like the type of person who is interested in obtaining this knowledge for the wrong reasons. If it's your dream to be a security professional, I'm sure that there are fine schools that you could attend. Most reputable employers will want you to have some type of formal education. Be clear about what you mean and how you phrase your questions, and do read the F.A.Q. so you don't get alot of negative responses here. This place is a good resource, when used the proper way. Don't just come here expecting to learn to hack, it doesn't work in that manner, but with the proper amount of studying/reading to get the foundation of your skills, this place is a treasure trove, a wealth of information. You would like to learn how to hack but if i told you about a buffer overflow in Apache, you probably woundn't understand what I mean. Remember, all good thing to those who wait, and study. : )
Also, finding someone here to take you under their wing wouldn't hurt either.

When you begin talking about being a netadmin/ engineer, or anything along those lines, the the depth of your knowledge and the range of subjects with wich you shoudl be knowledge becomes great. A good web designer may not need to know TCP/IP to build a page, but it may help to better understand how the scripts they are using will be taken in and used by the client side. Their scope of knowledge should also be inclusive of graphic design and a bunch of other things. These days it seems anyone can be a "web designer" with graphical tools like dreamweaver and what not, but a truly geions designer will know oh so much more. The same is applicable to any field. Anyone could be a "net admin" or "sys admin," but what will set them apart is their range of knowledge.

Wardog, If you really want to learn about computers and how to protect them then go and do what I said before and start learning languages. I would give you some links but it appears to me that you need to learn how to find things on your own. If you ask a question on AntiOnline then it should be because you've already tried everything in your powers to do it yourself. So you should either go to www.google.com and find something that your looking for or search the forums for what other people have already said. Now also if you really did make a mistake by posting too many times then you should repent for it by deleting the other ones that you made. To do that just go to the edit button and then click the delete option at the top of the screen. Thats all I have to say.
-
OK thank you guys ... I understood and made up my mind ... now what I have to do is studing I guess ... thank you ... and I have a warning already ... :)) next time I just have to read the FAQ i think :))) bye for now
I will delete the other posts ... thanks for the tip :)

WTF???? sorry wardog because this doesnt answer any of your questions but for some reason some people gave me negitive antipoints for posting on this. Does anyone agree that I should have gotten bad antipoints. I was trying to be helpfull and give Wardog good advice. I just want to know who thinks that people like Mizo who are just joining have the right to just give me negative antipoints for no reason? I just thought that it was completley unfair for people to do stuff like this!!!

Schoolsucks ... I'm sorry about your points ... If only I knew this will happen ... but what can I do ... I'm sorry ...
