Hi, I'm having a problem with my pc, my always restart when I exit from some application such as game (Fifa 2003, Soldier of Fortune), and others program like Pc Utilities. I dont know why? because before this, my system is stable....

Try reseating the RAM
If your ram is well seated and not causing your problem.....try defraging your hard drive and then running scandisc/with fix errors.
Hopefully that will help, if it is not your ram, that is.
Had this a while back when I first put in my Radeon... I had no idea what it was... when to Best Buy and bought a new power supply and no longer happens... ?!?! Can anyone confirm that its a power supply problem??
It could be a power supply problem, but that should show up also when you first start any program, and not just when ending one. The draw on the power supply (or the load ) will approx. double when you are pulling on all of your connected devices at once....like when selecting a new program, or leaving one.
I already Scandisk and defrag my Hard Disk for several time... and changing the RAM with the new one, but the problem still occur.... Maybe my Windows cause that problems.... I've totally no idea.... maybe I need reinstall my windows... (This is will be the last solution.... :( ...)

JohnHACK, Have you changed any of your hardware recently. Like a new harddrive, or cd-rewite, or a new monitor??
Yes, I just changed the CD-Writer and Ordinary CD-ROM, CD-Writer as a master, and CD-ROM as a slave, before this CD-Rom as a master.....

Try putting them back int their original configureations and see if that solves the problem. Also check to see if your power plugs are well seated and your jumpers in the correct places.
If you just added the cd-rewrite, than you could be over driving your power supply. The cure for that is either to upgrade your power supply or dropping one of your cd's.

(speed disk blows a plain old defrag out of the water and windoctor will find AT LEAST 18 errors in your registry on a FRESH install of XP Pro...)

allenb1963, actually i'm using Norton utilities to maintain my PC.... almost every day i'm running this utilities... but this problems, i think this caused by hardware conflicts, but I already update all of my hardware driver...

while yr system is running u press ctrl+alt+del and at the second tag....
u try to search W32................................try to find out.......otherwise the mother

Had a similar problem.....downloaded the latest drivers for my Video Card (Nvidia).
(Computer restarted when I exited HIGH graphic programs)
Windows drivers didn't work well. (what else is new ?)

Start with..
Opening System Properties from the controle panel..
Click on the Advanced Tab
in the Startup and Recovery, click on Settings..
If it hasn't already been done.. remove the bloody tick from "Automaticly Restart"

Now our old friend BSOD will visit instead of giving you the "Restarts"
Now you will know if it is a overloaded PSU or a Driver/software problem..
besides updating the Video drivers, check that you don't have InCD and DirectCD installed and running as well..
Most of the other advice is sound.. but allowing BSOD to visit.. is a handy fault finding tool..
Also don't assume that every problem is a virus or worm.. just have it as a possability.

firstly you should take und3ertak3rs advice and turn off the 'auto restart' and this will give you further information which you can use. However I suspect that your problem is similar to one commonly noted with VIA motherboards and nvidia cards... note that this problem is not restricted to this combo tho! If it is the same kind of thing there is no single fix all but you should try the following or a combination of all of them
1) update the graphics drivers - in many cases this is enough
2) check the BIOS and try opening the AGP aperture to either 128 or even 256MB - this sometime works
3) when in XP open up the video card properties and decrease the memory used for PCI texture for direct 3D as low as possible (5MB worked for me)
4) try reseating some of the RAM
5) if the above fails consider using a more powerful PSU as that seems to work almost all of the time (but of course it is an option that costs where the above 4 do not)

Orginial fan was to small!!!

i had a problem similar to urs my computer would just restart when i opened, win in, or finished a program and sometimes when i logged in. im not sure if this is the problem but make sure u hav a cpu fan that can keep up with ur cpu, mine could but i had a virus rewrite my bios and it turned the cooling fan off so my processor would overheat wich inturn caused some damage to the cpu so that it will overheat even with a cooling fan (now i hav the side of my case and a box fan sitting there and it works great)
So go into ur bios and see if u hav a cooling fan setting and make it to default (just to make sure its not the fan) then run the games or programs that it messes up on if it restarts again then its not the fan im not entirely sure this is the reason it could be just about anything inside ur computer there powerfull tools but fragel as glass
I'm Using AMD Athlon XP.... but maybe next week i'm gonna change my systems to MSI KT4V-L, AMD Atlhon XP 2600+ , and Kingsmax 333DDR....
HAHA!! Open the side of the case and put a box fan next to it! That's great! I think I'll try that if I ever want to over-clock my comp. That's actually a really great idea, hexadecimal. Oh and a similar problem I've encountered/created was to make a shortcut to window's restart and configure it so it won't ask if you want to restart and I put it in the startup folder so 'doze would just keep restarting..... Don't think that'll help you though. I don't know if you mentioned this but have you tried upgrading your power source yet?
My computer just restarted after I exited quake 3, i did the send error report, and the MS response was it was a driver problem, but they didn't know what driver caused it.
How come every time I send an error report to M$ (from any computer) I get the same response? Basically says there's some kind of driver problem but I think what they really mean is "We dont' know what-the-hell is wrong with your system....so we'll just tell you something that will confuse the living crap out of you...." or maybe "haha! we'll just tell him this and he'll *never* figure it out!".....maybe it's just me.
Actually M$ didn't know what is your problem that you faced, the's why M$ just ur driver, they juz assumed ur driver problems......
Ok, my comp did it again, this time MS gave me a cause:
