I need a logo!

I have a site witha lame logo. and i would really apreciate if anyone would make me a good logo. if you would like to visit my site it TheOuternet.Net Any help would be great. :)

This is the error IE gives me when I try to visit your site! Is their something wrong with the site or my IE gone mad...

Well i dont have much money i was hoping someone would be nice enough just to make a simple but good logo. it doesn't matter what colors. I'll work my site around them.

well cos I was bored I thought I'd have a quick go... how do you like this attempt? I thought I'd go with a font similar to your own.... but... ehh.. well see what you think

it was just a quick knock up job in photoshop.... but you could do something similar in The Gimp if you can't lay your hands on photoshop.

no problem anyway... use it or not as you see fit...

I'm have Adobe Photoshop if thats what you mean? Is that Font come with the program or is it something you did yourself?

yep... Adobe Photoshop is what I mean (ver 6.0 if you are interested)..... the font didn't come with Photoshop... it's called kidnapper... but I'll be damned if I can remember where it came from - I'll see if I can find a d/l for it. Do you want me to send you the .psd file (instead of the jpg) over email? it's only about 300k

no, no inf0streaker... you misunderstand - the font itself is called kidnapper.... I can't remember which program (if any) it came with... I can't find a link for it in any of the usual font resources on line either - so er... look in your email in about 10 mins :)

In the logo you sent me how did you make those lines going across the logo? And how did you make some layer transparent?

ok... if you open up the psd file I sent you for your logo - layer 2 is the layer which has the lines on it.

In order to create this effect what you first need to do is create a bitmap 2 pixels in height and 1 pixel wide. You can create this bitmap either in photoshop or in MS paint - which ever takes your fancy - I did it in MS paint because it's easy to do in that. You want to make the top pixel black and the bottom pixel white. Save the bitmap with a suitable name e.g. lines.bmp. In photoshop open up the bitmap image (called lines.bmp in this example)... it'll be small but that's ok. Making sure that the bitmap is the active image go to edit > define pattern. A dialogue box will pop up with the name of the image in it (i.e. lines.bmp) - rename the pattern if you wish and click ok. This will now mean you have a pattern stored in photoshop. Go back to your picture and open a new layer on the picture - the layer should already be transparent to begin with. On the new layer select the paint bucket tool then up at the top toolbar (underneath the main menu commands) you should see a pulldown box which has the word Fill to the left of it - the word foreground should be in the box . Click on the pulldown arrow and you should have an option called pattern in there - select this. To the right of this pulldown box there should be another pulldown box called pattern. Pull down this box and select the lines.bmp pattern that you saved in there earlier. Then with the paint bucket tool you should click on the picture that you are working on. This will then fill the picture with the lines you noted on your logo image. All you need to do then is go to the layer navigator which you should have on the right of your screen and change the opacity of the 'lines' layer - I usually take the opacity of the lines layer down to between 10-25% depending upon how noticeable I want it. Then voila you have created your lines effect. Hope that's clear enough.

As a side note you can create the lines bitmap in any combination of colours you don't have to stick to black and white. This allows for different lines patterns to be created and so you can bring different tones to the finished picture - experiment
