Jupiter Media Compromises User's Data Integrity
Greetings All:
First off, let me say very clearly and strongly to both Negative and MsMittens, the two moderators of AntiOnline, that this post was made in the CORRECT forum.
The issue that I'm discussing here is that of data integrity, which certainly falls under "Miscellaneous Security Discussions".
The Issue: Jupiter Media has started in-line advertisements. This is a practice which has gained heavy criticism by not only privacy advocates, but free speech advocates, and security professionals a like.
What is in-line advertising? Jupiter Media is now ALTERING YOUR POSTS to include advertisements in such a away, that it appears that the user making the post is the one advocating and endorsing the products that they are looking to promote.
Want examples? Watch what happens when I type in the following words. Keep in mind, that I am not doing ANY LINKING here:
business
computer
networks
See what I mean? It looks like good 'ol JP is linking all of you to advertisements, doesn't it? Never mind the fact that I think that gateway computers are pieces of junk, and wouldn't recommend them to ANYONE.
This is not only an annoying practice, but an unethical one, that CERTAINLY does NOT belong on a website dedicated to information security, privacy, and data integrity.
As a responsible member of the security community, I urge you all to write Jupiter Media, and urge them to stop this practice immediately. I also urge you all to boycot any advertiser that is being promoted in such a way by this site.
