How Do I Get More Ads?

Greetings All:

Well, I don't know about you, but this "discussion board" thing that they have on AntiOnline is really getting in the way of me being able to enjoy the ads. I mean, that's why I visit AntiOnline, to enjoy the advertising, and if I occasionally have to scroll past some content, it makes surfing the ads very inconvenient.

Maybe someone could set something up in the site options section like maybe "Turn Off Content"? I think it would really help being able to surf the ads more efficiently, without having all of the other stupid stuff get in the way.

Also, I can still see a little bit of content "above the fold" on the main page. Is my browser messed up or is this a problem with the page layout? I mean, the last thing that I want to see when I visit AntiOnline is some actual content! Maybe if you put another 3 or 4 ads ABOVE the logo, it would take care of this problem?

Please do something quickly to remedy the situation, having actual discussions and articles is seriously hindering my ability to enjoy the advertising that this site has become known for!

I just use proxymotion and redirect all content from antionline.com to load from 127.0.0.1. That way I get content-free add browsing.

Well if someone hadn't have sold the site, then maybe the ads wouldnt be so plentiful !

You know what, you're right. I used to have WAY WAY WAY too much content on the site when I ran it. I only had small ads at the top, and users that contributed to the site a lot even had those up and vanish on them.

It's amazing to me, looking back, that anyone used to visit the site at all. I, for one, would never have visited a site that had ads displayed in such an unobtrusive manner!

But, I'm glad to see that Jupiter Media has put some real visionaries and talent behind the site now. Animated banners, flash banners, embedded links for security products. I never could have come up with such genius on my own! And look at how pretty they all are!

I'm going to do my small part to help, and use the features available with this site to add banners to my signature as well! Maybe those of you that are as disturbed about all of the content on this site as I am, will do the same to help Jupiter Media reach their vision of the finest portal for advertising available on the Internet today!

As long "they" don't start sending PM's or emails to fill out surveys and that kind of stuff, i think it's alright. But the only 2 things we can do is just sit an wait for new changes if there are going to be, or just not comming here anymore.

i Think that this site has some subliminary ( i don't know how do you spell it and im to lazy to check ) because it's adictive. And always the voices in my tell me to come back.

I'm a simple man, I'd just like a few more javascript errors, because I can still navigate the site with a 40% sucess rate. Once the site becomes completely laden with ads and totally un-useable I'll be satisfied.

If we want to do something about it I suggest we all 'go on strike' by not posting for a few days.

If you didn't want ad's you shouldn't have sold the site to a corperation, see in the real world devlopers like to eat and we need money for that , your choices are a subscription modle (the best way to kill a site) or ads.

I wouldn't mind the adds if they were not advertising absolute crap.

I mean, Some of the adds are advertising stuff to hide porn and things to cover your tracks.

Does this not encourage the type of element on to the site that JP and others have been trying to stop since he founded the revamped Antionline. (Not the original antionline and anticode which were pro haxor sites hehe)

I dont think I would mind the ads if they werent the entire size of my screen, last time I logged on i thought windows had finally gone a step further and personalized their site to me. All I could see was my name and a big ad.. come to think of it when did AO start advertising on microsofts webpage..:confused:

I'd have to say in general that the level of discussion has increased dramatically since jupiter took over. Gone are the days of totally useless posts filling up forums as we now have moderators that delete posts instead of just letting them go suicidal and sit around for no reason.

Another good thing being that most of the problems with the antipoint system were corrected. Gone are the days of being flooded with negative points because you made some kid mad and he decided to get his friends to dump a bunch of crap on ya.

It's not really that hard to scroll down the screen to get to the content. Perhaps someone is mad that they can't get another website up and running with any kind of user base? If I were jupiter media I would remove all references to JP from the site as he is obviously just coming back around to try and start crap to get people mad at jupiter media.

Perhaps if JP had been more involved in the community here over the last four months instead of having 3 or 4 posts that really have done nothing except for complain about the people that HE CHOSE to sell AO to, I would be more likely to take his comments as something other than an angry rant.

yes mohaughn you are right JP chose to sell AO and everytime he comes back to AO is just to complains about JM. Everyone has his/her own views abt everyting we can consider. JP may not like it along with many other but some may chose to live with it.

But still on this issue, just being a user i have my own views. I wouldnt really like to see a big banner like this on the top. Yes ads are imp. but not imp than ur site, the very reason why ads are here. The BIG banner annoyes me coz it makes me scroll down everytime and i really wont like to have just ADs welcoming me.

I really feel for JP I do.

I mean its like building a kitt car from the ground up and making it a labour of love and then selling it for some extra cash. (Alot I would wager JP hehe)

The engine you worked on is still in it purring like a kitten. The headlites shining and maybee even the friends you have still get use out of it but.

When you look at it it doesn't please you. This thing you spent so much time on has been vandalised.

I think we need to click them, I'm pretty sure that is what it is like for most ad company places, and companys that give people to display.

Am I trippin or is the ad on the main page appearing and disappearing? Maybe its time to delete my cache. One moment the ad is there and then after browsing another forum and going back to the main page it is gone. Is anyone else experiencing this?

There's a big difference, though, in this site and Internet.com ads... If you go to Internet.com, you don't have to scroll at all to see the actual content. Believe me, go there. It's ads, ads, ads, but right in the middle of the page right under "today on internet.com" is their actual stories that you go to the site to see. With AO, though, you have to seriously hit the scroll button on the mouse twice to even begin to see what you came here for. Also, I think it's funny that jupiter media owns both AO and internet.com, hehe.

The ads can get very annoying. And yes that one in the center does appear and disappear. And ive got three screens full of ads at the moment. It makes me sick. But hey its all in good fun and for the love of making money. Doesnt that make it right?

Hmm, yea, JupM is so horrible. I mean damn, all they do is what we ask. Someone asked for a place to post code on antionline, a new forum completly, what did they do? Have it ready in like 30 ****in minutes.

People were pissed about AP abuse, what did they do? Took a vote, and now names are displayed.

JP brings up how stupid the site looks now with the blue and so on....Who designed it? Wasnt them, it was us. They could'v made a no logo by themselves, but instead they let US try it out, and then WE ALL voted on which one was the best. And even though they didnt have too, they offered a cash prize.

All the people bitching about how they do nothing but make money off us, but the new features forum of AO has had more activity than it ever did before. talk about being an ungrateful ****.

man, I was going to post about JP always blasting the people that he sold the site to, but I was a bit nervous about getting a massive amount of negs for it. I'm glad some seniors stood up and said what needed to be said.

as far as having to scroll down to see content, what in the world are you talking about? What is this about some ad in the middle of the page, or some ad taking up the whole page?! I seriously have never seen that. I use Opera 7.22 and I have pop-ups disabled through it. Could it be that you all are seeing pop-up ads? If so, why not just get a different browser or something like the google toolbar and be done with seeing those nutty ads?

Its very simple , if you are so ****ing stupid that you can't figure out how to use an adblocker or you enjoy watching crap , you get crap. Other than that who gives a ****. Its a corporate world out there filled with continous garbage.

Let's see, before Jupiter Media there were 52 threads made by me in the new features forum. Since Jupiter Media took over there were 9 created by them, including things like "we're adding security products to the main page", in other words, an announcement about more advertising. How is that more activity than ever before?

I do drop in from time to time to speak out about various issues, such as when Jupter Media started implanting ads into the middle of users posts. Believe it or not, I get e-mails on a daily basis still from members of this site. When they tell me about something going on that seems off the wall to me, I drop in and make a post about it. Many of the users that write me are afraid of retribution from the new owners, or from asinine members such as yourself

There was a recent thread about a tutorial I remember where i read that everyone hated him and so on after criticism of his work was posted.....to the point where all posts but his own had to be moved to another thread and the tutorial locked down.

If the homosexual thing bothers you so little then why do you bring it up so often? It seems that something that is so inconsequential wouldn't be worth bringing up multiple times in the same thread.

Meh, I posted links to the book I used to check everything in that tutorial. It got moved because people were just saying "this sucks" without any reason, or showing what they thought sucked.

Well this thread is now off topic.. as for Jp's thread "how to get more ads". What you have to do is resell your new website. That way you will get more ads.
