Hi,
I am afraid that you will probably not get much of a response to your request.
1. People will be cautious of any inadvertent or collateral damage they might cause.
2. It it YOUR system, and your main one I suspect?
3. Our ISPs may detect such activity, and take a very hard line :(
4. We don't actually know who you are.....just who you say you are?
Might I suggest you search the net for "security tests", "security audits", "vulnerability asessments" and the like. You can usually get at least one free go, and they are trying to sell their product/service? Take the cheese and don't spring the trap, as the wise mouse said ;)
Cheers
Another idea you might try is seeing if you can pick up an old box and a cheap hub somewhere, and set up your own lab......
It's fine to see what other people are doing when they have a go at your box, but it's better to do it yourself, that way you are learning how to use the tools also.
Edit: There really is no way around it...you're going to have to read, read, and read some more. And at first, none of it is going to make any sense. But if you keep mucking your way through, sooner or later, bits and pieces will start making sense. Then after awhile, the bits and pieces will start to fit together. I guess it's kind of like a puzzle you never have all the pieces for, and sometimes you get pieces you didn't even know were part of the puzzle.
Now it would be funny if someone did actually Say YES pick me i will illegally hack into your Box with or without your permission..
He'd better hope that No Skid Kiddie saw what he was asking, it'd be a wonderful day for them, and a dreadful day for him when he has to re-install everything..
cheers
Rtman
Sure i will have a shot..Quote:
Once you are able to give me proof that it is your system,. i'll happily gain root and trash your box like the little "SCript Kiddie" that i am..
All those that said differently can just go and suck my ****..!
What is this place filled with Pussies that ain't got the balls to hack someone's computer and show 'em what's wrong with this guys Box..?
Yep typical.
This place is meant to be about helping n00bies..But it's just one big joke.
The seniors have there own rules, and if they don't like ya then they will neg ya..
Hey i'm proof of this Theory..
Now don't get me wrong, i don't hate this site, infact it's helpful. I just don't like the People here, (Seniors that is).
They think there all tuff and almighty behind there little Green AP's, but get 'em in Irc and there just a bunch of bitch's..
They say they don't care about AP's..!
Yep sure heard that line 2 many times in the Addicts Forum,..
Oops that's right there is a way to gain Access to that Forum, even though i' don't got 275 posts..
So if your a n00bie and you wanna c what's in there, then sh00t me a Pm and i'll tell ya how to..
So before i get banned i'd like to say that i'll be back but next time i'm coming after you Negative you FAKE.....!
cyru5
Some one Negg this l00ser for me..
cheers
stacy..*
I tend to agree with some of what he's saying, although he is a looser
Did you even read the previous posts or was your head so far up your ass that you couldnt? Think dumbass...dont get too hasty. Its too easy to crash someone's box but although his reasons might be honest...it needs to be validated. Its idiots like you who get caught hacking. Now please...before your stupid mouth says anything else, read the previous posts and learn...you n00bie script kiddie.
[edit][gloworange]flame[/gloworange] aimed at Cyrus[/edit]
I will just say this, people who are serious about learning security stuff need their own lab, just like groovicus said. Everyone wants to be a hacker, but no one wants to work at it. What the hell is up with that? If you don't understand what is going on and you just run a tool, then you are a TOOL. Besides that makes you a Script Kiddie!
I checked and I already own that box anyway. Lol, just kidding.
How can you be a hacker without throwing time at it?
To me, the definition of hacker was someone who is intensly curious and always wants to learn the forbidden information. A hacker is someone who enjoys spending oodles of time reading and learning... Personally I think that a script kiddie is completely unlike a hacker - the only connection they have is that a script kiddie has some of the hacker's control over a technical system, but unlike the hacker the script kiddie is just running programs while only understanding pieces of what they do. A hacker is not by definition doing anything illegal in a free democracy... a script kiddie always is.
Um, its a security website i.e. we dont want to learn how to hack somebodys box but to defend it. The reason people here are cautious about this sort of thing is that somebody asked before and the box turned out not to be his.Quote:

Yep.... i would suggest you to build your own honeypot http://secinf.net/intrusion_detectio..._need_one.html. Don't run any win SO on it, use FreeBSD insteed.
No one will actually blindly attack a machine just because you say it is yours, you can just be social engeneering us into attacking someone. But hey mount your own wargame i'll be glad to sign in.
If you do want to learn, pratically handling a compromised sys is good, but be sure to read something before you do that, otherwise you won't know what to do.
Incase u really want to see if ur system can be compromised as already mentioned by our members try running a good Vulnerability Scanner on ur PC.... or try undertaking Penetration Testing using tools like Core Impact...
But dear this is not a community where u can request systems to be compromised or broken....
Take Care....
You have many options... The best of which is creating your own LAN! On it you can expirement to your hearts content. You'll be suprised at how much you learn! I heard someone else mention that you could set-up a honey pot. This is a good option, but it requires some patience, you've gotta make your system look appealing to "hackers" first, and there is software to do this! But over all you get to see someone else performing under your spotlight so to speak :) Which can be quite educational, and fun :) The last option is getting a professional security audit. It might cost money.. I'm not sure... You could always get a friend to do it, but make sure you get him to sign an agreement IN WRITING, before you go through with it. For legal purposes
P.S. I'm a Junior Member now!! YAY!!!
(EDIT: Cyrus... calm down man  Facts are facts... Even if you are "better" than these talented people.. It makes you seem like a bad person when you talk to the other members like that... My advice, be more friendly! Think happy thoughts!)
What in hell would make u ask such a thing??...u have no idea who may be trying to do the hacking or what they may do 2 ur system if they actually get in. A good point made earlier by someone...many times an ISP can detect such activities and get u in trouble...so not many people would take u up on the offer..probably only those that think they know that which they don't.
Tho not every one learns from reading. I know that i learn more from accuily doing it. Im not condoning hacking in any way shape or form, tho I beleave that you would have a better chance of securing your systoms, if your REALY new, and understood how thay gain access. not just from what some text book or some seniour sayes.Quote:

Every thing that you read is just an opinion, It is not neccaccerialy fact, so set up your own test box and start cracking... (so to speek)

Come on NFG, I think I'd take Ennis' word over yours, considering I can read his and your talking crap.
AL i am saying is that some people learn more from experiencing it, NOT from reading about it.Quote:

I was not picking on ennis. I was not picking on any one. I was stating MY opinion, which you can eather like of not like, that is up to you.Quote:
I refuse to get in to an argument of any sorts with you over this.
So stop trying to start one.

Good point but before you start to get down and dirty you have to know what you are doing first, its why RTFM is such a popular saying.Quote:

That is true, Tho when I play around with things like that I tend to only ever use the manual If I get really stuck and am unable to find it on the net.
As Nightfall sayes (I think he was mucking around) (he is a techie) "Whats a manual? Real techies dont use them."
Nightfalls_Girl
The manual is only a tool invenyed by fascist bastard to constrain you to using a tool in a particular way. Were it not for manuals, we would find all sorts of ways to do things with all sorts of tools that we never thought of before. Like the first guy who ever used a screwdriver to open a paint can. Thank God he didn't read the warning on the package that said "use only as intended".
I too only read the manual when I get stuck, and otherwise try to find any use for whatever tool it is that I can. I usually end up using it for more than it was designed for.
/me points Ennis to Terr's signature.
I would like to point out to you guys, oddly enough that I have to that this thread is abotu newbies like learning about newbie stuff, like a few tutorials I was talking about etc.
You know what I mean, if you dont, feck off.
