Dur...even if you arent very computer savvy, you should know that you should never download programs off kazaa. i'm actually suprised that percent isnt higher. maybe they should just turn off the program search tab in the next version. That is, if there is a next versiom ;)

That can be through any p2p file sharing system. Thats the risk people take by downloading files.
kazza is the best mp3 shareware out there....... if ur good at beatin codes this is not a problem ..or good at code blockin ..but tx 4 the notes ..one!!!!!!!!!!!
seems to me like you've never used something else. Tried e-donkey ?Quote:

KLite-K++ has never given me any troubles... Of course I never download programs, so I wouldn't know... But for Mp3's it works fine for my needs...
I have winmx set up for downloading mp3's (locked down so will not accept any other file type) that way g/f can download as much music as she likes without risk of infection :)

I use kazaa sometimes.
I dont' use it much but what I do download saves me several hundreds of dollars. lol
I'm just always careful to us my AV on the files before I open them up.
Although I don't support the distribution of warez and other forms of copyrighted material, I find that I tend to use P2P clients.
For music, KaZaA seems to be the best. Just remember to filter the traffic that's associated with it and be sure to scan every file that you download multiple times with multiple AV's.
For larger files, such as movies and large software downloads, I use Emule. Although many will say that it sucks because of how slow it is, I love it because the quality of files is much higher than those coming out of any other P2P client.
In conclusion, everyone has their own preferences when it comes to P2P clients. All have their pros and cons that can be debated.
Just be sure to take precautions when dealing with these types of downloads because no one knows what could be lurking within the file.
:D
i would havto say that Kazaa Lite K++ is the best one out there, least of the ones that ive tried. its more secure and more stable than Kazaa (Kazaa crashes on me everyother download) and it tends to download as fast, if not faster. the best part is that it doesnt come with any spyware or adware. if theres a problem with it, its that there arent very many users, and thus not many downloads, and a lot of the files are fake. like any smart downloader, i have my shared folder unshared, and i make sure that the files i download are safe before opening them. anyways, id get K++ if you havto have a P2P program. i havent tried alot of those other ones that you guys reccomended and/or listed, ill havto check some of those out sometime...
i wish i could understand the people who download thousands of files and share all of them?!?!?! i mean it must lag like a mother. those people get a good 10, 15 uploads a minute (my cousin does that). and most of them dont even run a dedicated server.
there is of course one problem with the free programs like kazaa and k++ and all those... since they are free, unlike napster, it of course means that anyone can share files, which means that alot of them are going to be fake, low quality, or not even exist. the thing that makes me even madder about this is that the RIAA is taking advantage of the freedom and sharing tons of fake files, as in thousands of them. it can get quite annoying, their abusing of freedom.
also, quite obviously, if you have any sharing at all, you should have Ad-aware, spybot search and destroy, and a popular antivirus program.
Audio Galaxy was absolutely awesome back in the day (two years ago). Now I'd have to say K-Lite K++, but I heard that Bittorrent has a search plugin now. I haven't tried it but I imagine it would perhaps outclass K-Lite. Of course I could also be completely wrong.
I forgot to mention that I do use KaZaA K++ as it works just as fast as the regular KaZaA and it doesn't seem to come with the spyware and other malicious things that the regular KaZaA comes with.
Just remember that in order to get KaZaA K++ these days, you'll have to download it from another person's shared folder as new editions of KaZaA K++ will not be produced again because the regular KaZaA sued KaZaA K++ for copyright infringement.
Even if you do use K++, make sure that you keep your system tight because you never know what kinds of malicious code are circulating through P2P networks these days.
:D
Kazaa Lite K++ or whatever it's called is just Kazaa without the spyware and adware basically. I use it frequently. I am always careful with what I download. Here's what I do:
1. I have Kazaa filter double extensions out.
2. I scan everything with Norton AV, both while it DL's and after it's done.
3. I boot into SuSE with a special limited account I created. That way, even if there is a virus, there is not a whole lot it can do. I then examine the file, if it's music I play it, if it's porn I stare at it, and if it's an archive, I examine every file in it.
4. I finally release the file into XP, on a limited account of course.
Piracy is wrong of course...
Even being careful I see infections on my own PC all the time. Even with on access scanning it takes a couple of weeks before the code is found sometimes. It Doesn't take a genius to wrap an executable and stick it on P2P.
Actually that's not quite true. I used to use Kazaa Lite K++ but the first time that I download it Ad-adware found a few porn dialers on it.
No matter how careful you are there is still a chance that you will get infected. That is why I stopped using P2P music sharing software. Especially since now there is way too many viruses on it.
You can't really find anything useful on it anyways. That's my personal opinion though.
I'll be honest with y'all, I pretty much only use kazaa for pron. It's actually a pretty good system. Some odd stuff comes up though. Norton has hit on about 16 downloads so far.
I am careful, but I know that one day something will slip through and screw things up.
Agent Steal, my copy of Kazaa Lite K++ didn't get hit by Ad-aware??? I'll check again, thx.
