The worst virus is the one that you haven't prepared for.....
Or am I being too philosophical? :D
i think MyDoom ....
The MyDoom e-mail virus is only a few days old and still growing. Experts said right now about one out of every 12 e-mails carry the virus .
Well it could be one that you git an email that tells you to delete you'r ntldr
and mails its self to everybody in you'r list.
The worst virus would be one that affects critical infrastructure, such as traffic control systems, power grids and medical systems.

i forgot the name but i had some really messed up time with a virus which crashed my system manager right at start up....i couldnt run some software nor drag icons etc...that would be my 1st choise but also my doom is messed up also :D
The worst virus i ever got was the cold. this winter. No really, speaking of money i think MsBlast caused the most damage worldwide.
Microsoft Windows, and from a biological perspective Aids.
I'd go with HIV...lol.
Actually, I believe the next virus is always the worst one. I dont see new viruses doing less damage than their predecesors.
Probably human stupidity... That's the real problem because here doesn't work any yet know antivirus or firewall:)
man thats a pretty ****ed up signature cid
Mydoom was the fastest spearding email virus
Blaster was to virus which left many organizations with lighter pockets
Chernobryl.. <Not sure on the name> some years back.. was the one who gave Hware industry new lease of life.. (I guess that virus used to attack Hardware especially motherboard)
Take Care
Yup Chernobyl, PE_CIH, Win95/CIH, W95/CIH.1003, CIH.Spacefiller or WIN32/CIHQuote:

It cost me a motherboard on April 26 1999, when I still did wares..
The virus runs on 9x only and tries to overwrite the first 24 sectors of your harddisk (wich is repairable) and also tries to flash the bios of old pc's (p/pII) with Intel 430TX compatible chips.
I had two options, get my bios fixed ( $$ ) or buy a new mobo that had 100Mhz mem, usb etc ;)
IMHO the best designed, therefore, worst virus was "magistr"............very clever.
I guess you did not define your question too clearly?.....worst in cost, number of hits, or technicality?
cheers
