Is Opera better than IE?
Hi all, I like to know from your experiences, why most people prefer Opera than IE? But IE already enough for me even though I'm always online about 10hrs per day, there's less trouble using IE. Friends of mine also recomm me to use Opera, he said opera is much secure browser and much features.
If most of you agree that Opera is better than IE, then maybe I will go for Opera or any others Web browser that you all recomm.

I think it all depends on what you're looking for in a browser..
For some, it's speed.. for others it's flexibilty or security.
If speed is what concerns you, then test out your browser here.

It might be nice for all of us to post results.. So here are mine for the picture file only.

Yawn..... firefox all the way. One feature that opera has over IE is the multi tab feature so you can have like 20 pages open in one browser. I think IE is the only browser without this that i have used

JohnHack,
Well if you have the disk space available, download them both and you can take them for a test run yourself. I use all the browsers and have seven for windows and almost that many for linux.
cheers

Guys guys, you forget one thing. Each browser has a "wait time" in which it will halt displaying the received information.
Mozilla Firefox gets information as fast as any other browser out there, I mean, think about it. The browser is using your connection, this means all browsers will get the information at the same time. A few browers wait a moment or two before displaying so that they can display more at once, this way the user gets more of the page at once. No, I'm not talking about processing time either, as those differences are counted in millaseconds. I'm talking about the preference ability to say "hold information until the page is loaded to a certain %, or for a certain amount of seconds, so the browser can display more information at once"
That is merely personal preference, but in each browser that is changable. So the test doesn't prove anything execpt what setting you have for "how long/much information to wait for before displaying"
IE: Takes no time to cache before displaying
Opera: Takes a mere moment to collect information
Mozilla(fox): Takes a few moments, usually displaying the entire page at once.
etc.. etc..
As I said, this is not a test you can place for how good a browser is, as it is a configurable setting and not the true browser speed. On a side note, I hate Opera. Why? I refuse to pay for a browser, or have Ads in a free version. If I wanted that, I would be using AOL.
