....
Ehhh. When it rains, it pours.
Of course, without skiddies, what would we do with all of our negs?
Yeah at least this one didn't die within his first 25 minutes I guess. Not only is it on the FAQ but the main page also.
Now let us not assume that this person is a skiddie. Maybe the word 'hacker' was used in the proper, Stallman-definition way. Regardless, I'm holding back my negs for now...
Rofl @ Cybrid. I actually know the Hacking4fun kid. I got a PM from him like 5 minutes after he signed up saying: "you know me :D". I was like ok... Anyway, he's changing his handle and I'll get 'em "squared away", lol. ;)
*edit*
Rofl!! Apparently my younger sibling signed up with AntiOnline. ¤‡¢è¤ is the one... I knew the other kid *through* this same sibling and sent a link to the thread and they were both like "yeah...that's our thread..." They signed up together. So um....I'm going to go talk to both of 'em... I also sent links on all of AO's netiquette tutorials and AP tutorials an' stuff. In the meantime - plz don't neg them till they have like at least 10 posts (and hacking4fun will have a different handle....omg what a neg magnet!!)
Nope, they're skiddies. I just ask for a day or two ta bring them up to speed on a few things... I'm not gonna try and stick up for them if they do something stupid - they have to learn on their own but I can give 'em a little guidance at first. (btw, nobody has to worry about a case of AP abuse....as far as that goes I'll most likely completely ignore them...rofl again).Quote:

Well,
1. I find it difficult to answer questions from people whose name I cannot pronounce :p
2. As was sort of referred to earlier, "what do you mean by "hacking"?..........it is a word that gets bandied around a lot these days, particularly in the media, and seems to have lost its original meaning ( check out NemorY's first post).
It used to mean someone who displays a high degree of technical competence (NemorY and myself use it that way)..........hence the expression "he couldn't hack it" for someone who fails.
I will put it to you this way...............if it gets you a $120,000 a year job, it rocks.............if it gets you 5-10 in the Federal Pen, it sucks.
Not that difficult, huh?
Cheers
EDIT: Apologies to Hypronix............he made the first reference to the definition of the term.........I just seem to lose concentration when I go over the page in a thread :)
Good way to put it, nihil. Nice little analsys (sp.?) there.Quote:

lol sorry about the name, *its Ice*...
Thanks Ice..............I am old and slow :)
I still go with what I said about "hacking", it depends what you actually mean by it, which is why I tried to give you a rule of thumb to decide.
OK, I know it is not prison in all cases, you also need to think about getting tossed out of school, losing privileges and so on.................just not worth it IMHO.
Cheers
Now as a computer enthusiast what scares me the most when it comes to crossing the line between the Stallman definition of hacking [i.e. what Nemory and nihil where saying earlier] and the media definition of it is the fact that going into illegality might mean that I lose my computer privileges. And I don't mean chat and e-mail... much like a writer that loses his hands and cannot write, although he has so many things he'd say, I would be... torn.
[And yes, I am aware the writer can dictate. Just like I might be able some day, late after I committed a crime, to touch a computer again.]
So my opinion? Damn, I love learning about computers and getting as far deep into it as possible! Code, security, wireless, anything, if it comes in binary [and runs under *nix :)] then I probably want to know more about it. You decide.
My aunt's husband got caught doing some very innovative things with rotary phones back in the 80's and lost all privelages to anything computer like including phones until he turned 18. After he turned 18 he joined the air force and put his abilities to good use. But, I couldn't imagine not being able to use a computer.
ahh shucks.........
me finds a nice little negative thread, that HASN'T been blitzed in reds. Then read Keezel's post, so now I'm stuck with that damn BIG 'advert' on my home page.
Good luck with the education, failing that, I've always found that the big stick is a REAL good method, if the carrot part fails............
Oh yes, ICE, I can see it now :o
Closed...........
