I normally would agree with the rest of you and teach him how to look the info up on his own, but it's late and i'm bored. :D
I've used Zone Alarm a little bit and in my opinion it's crap. It was always causing all sort of trouble for me and I've tried version 3.x and 5.x. Perhaps it's just more secure, but I found it extremely annoying. As of now I use Sygate Personal Firewall and have found it to be just about perfect for what I need. If you don't like ZA you may try it out.
Also, what I understand a honeypot to be is this: When a cracker (no flaming, please :p) tried to break in or successfully breaks into a computer s/he can secretly (without his/her knowledge) be "transferred" to a honeypot computer. It is nearly exactly the same as the computer they want/wanted to break into, but they can't do any real harm. They are on a replica, not the important machine that perhaps they want/wanted to foobar. The point is that they can then be traced and caught or at the very least, not do any damage. Hope this helps.
Regards,
Xierox

The free zone alarms in my experience didnt have that many features like I never found a place where you could set up rules and stuff, however I use on my windows machine and Ive found it to be more that adaquate.

Well, pooh always recommends kerio so I downloaded it.. haven't installed it yet though.
And since the guy knows what he is talking about, I suggest you try it too.
Cheers!

"Honeypots are closely monitored network decoys serving several purposes: they can distract adversaries from more valuable machines on a network, they can provide early warning about new attack and exploitation trends and they allow in-depth examination of adversaries during and after exploitation of a honeypot.
Honeypots are a highly flexible security tool with different applications for security. They don't fix a single problem. Instead they have multiple uses, such as prevention, detection, or information gathering. Honeypots all share the same concept: a security resource that should not have any production or authorized activity. In other words, deployment of honeypots in a network should not affect critical network services and applications. A honeypot is a security resource who's value lies in being probed, attacked, or compromised.
There are two general types of honeypots: production and research. Production honeypots are easy to use, capture only limited information, and are used primarily by companies or corporations. Research honeypots are complex to deploy and maintain, capture extensive information, and are used primarily by research, military, or government organizations.
One example of a honeypot is a system used to simulate one or more network services that you designate on your computer's ports. An attacker assumes you're running vulnerable services that can be used to break into the machine. This kind of honeypot can be used to log access attempts to those ports including the attacker's keystrokes. This could give you advanced warning of a more concerted attack."
I use Sygate firewall free version, and find it works well for me, i also have xp pro f/w, and norton
f/w, all seem to get on fine.....

Reason #1:
Googled a phrase and found what I wanted. Went and searched for the exact same phrase on Yahoo and up comes a ton of porn sites. (If I remember correctly, it did find what I wanted, but I had to scroll all the porn sites to find it... I don't believe it was on the first page, either, it was several pages down. ) Google does a very good job of filtering these out and finding what you want nearly always on the first try.
Reason #2:
Google's site doesn't contain all the latest news, banner ads, and stuff. It's a search engine page, plain and simple. It loads very fast on 56k.
Reason #3:
What other search engine has such a cool name?!? :D

Ummm I like the Norton Personal Firewall. It works great and I have never had a break in with it.
Google is the Best. Yahoo is well.....Gay
