Return post counts to normal

Ok this was mentioned in Addicts but I thought I'd bring it out onto the main baord to get everyones opinion.

As you prolly know the NST (non-sensical thread) has been closed - finally spiralled down too much........and to be honest i think it was a good judgment call by the mods.

But my question is this - with all the fuss over people's post counts caused by the NST should it now be deleted?

Well I think it should...some people would notice a signifigant drop in their count but that is only to be expected and it might cause a few to have to post more to once again regain their status but without the NST they may then contribute to the site.

There really is no argument to keep it....is anyone ever going to read it again? Doubt it......what about sentimental value? well I have a screenie which I think is enough

So what do people think should it be deleted to return peoples post counts to normal??

if people have a sentimental value attached to it....they need to go out more often...and hopefully they get a tan.

Umm I don't care really, but I'd prefer if all the post's were deleted. I could care less if I lose the 300+ posts. People like cheyenne though would loose 1000+ so I dunno.

fitting graphics card tomorrow - and just downloaded steam so might pop in for some CS ;)

but back to the question at hand - can we get a big YES for deleting i? heh would be funny to see as well how the top10 posters list looks after it is gone - lol ]

I like the NST, but... let's be honest, most of the people who post whored in there were seniors to begin with.

yes it was Val...but hey you're welcome to join too :)....Val and xmadd are 2 of the original founders...then Cheyenne and myself took over the leadership. Jarrod is helping out a lot too. Zombieman is teaching his wife how to play :D....funny ****...We were all playing together and I was giving his wife "god mode"...she was owning everyone...ROFL shoulda heard zombieman on TS.

I gotta say one thing about the NST.... At least it concentrated most of the stupidity into one place...

Yeah I may losse 1000+ posts, but I have enough posts before I ever started posting that it won't really effect me all that much. Besides I'd like to see how many posts I would have with the NST.

I'm all for it, but I only had 17 posts in the nonsense thread so it really wouldn't bother me one way or the other.

Exactly Raion, I mean I posted a lot their, but I had so many posts hleping other people and in other threads that deleting the NSt wouldn't bother me really.

There's a fair bit of history in that thread.

I think it should be up to the member if they want their posts deleted from the NST. and leave the others as they are and if at a later time they want them deleted it shouldn't be hard to do if it is possible to delete a specific users posts from a thread

Perhaps we could have a compromise. I strongly suggest it is removed from AntiOnline because there is no good reason for it to count toward people's post counts in the first place. I posted in there a fair amount and I still want it removed. (heh, maybe I could become a Senior member all over again :D) However, I also think it should be copied to a place where we can access it just b/c it can be fun to go to random places in the thread and read a bit....like D0pp139an93r said: "There's a fair bit of history in that thread."

i personally think it is a good idea to have the thread deleted, and all post that you had made in the non-sensical thread would be removed from the post count, big loss, post count means squat..
and seeing as i only posted just under 400 post' in the non-sensical thread i'll end up with around 700 post's wow big deal..
So i say go for it, it would be the best thing to do, then maybe all the biatching about peoples post count will stop because then they wouldn't have anything to cry about..

I do agree with the idea of copying the thread to sometype of AO Archives or something.

Delete it from the AO main database, but copy the NST to some other part of the site so if we ever wanted to could go back and look at it.

But I still agree with deleting it and putting our post count back to normal

Or maybe move it to a Conference room. Or i agree with cheyenne, move it to the Archives section or something, that way those that wanna relive some fun times can do that.

I couldnt care less if the NST was deleted or not as i never posted in it, it is however a part of AO and it did happen so there is no need to delete it ... post whoring however .. i dunno ... leave me outta this one i guess hehe :)

what does the amount of posts a person have matter anyway? its the antipoints and quality of your posts that make you a respected member not the amount of posts you have made. . . . !!??

Just some things to consider:

- If we delete the thread, postcounts of member who posted in the NST will automatically go down (guess you already knew that).
- If we move it to the Forum Archives (or any other forum), nothing will happen to postcounts.
- If you want the thread to still be accessible and you want postcounts to go down, mnstrgrl would probably have to execute some database commands.

How about we give it a couple more days, see what the majority thinks and just go with that.

Edit: And nobody would loose his custom title :D

I need to reiterate one thing.... I don't care about the post count issue, but I do care about the thread itself... It was fun... It was a place to hang out and chat... It essentially became the AO IRC server.

As the person who posted last in the thread (and probably was the straw that broke the camels back so to say) I think that we should delete the NST.
