can any one tell me how to get a IP adress though msn messanger? or IPs at all
Send someone a file and once you are sending the file, go to cmd and type netstat -n (or whatever flag you want). =)
Good lord, what is it.. National Lamer Question Day? Read the FAQ please.. :(

God's Whore: I understand what you are saying (and I can give them the information too) but when you give them answer's to these type of question's, it only give's them the idea that these type of questions are accepted, tolerated, and allowed here. And that's not the kind of idea/message I'd like to send to people, especially the new members.
AFAIK the main problem with trying to trace IPs is that with dial-up connections it changes everytime they connect, and if they are using a proxy you don't get a meaningful answer?
just a thought
Sending a file to another computer creates a direct connection between the two and the real IP will be seen whether or not they are using a proxy. =)Quote:

Double negative in a sentence.
Not if you tell MSN to use a proxy... Believe me, I've tested it ;)
Let's test it again... this I would like to see... [email protected] is my MSN nick, feel free to drop one and I'll test it.
Waiting on you Dave...
Test completed, IP proven to be found by a simple netstat -n, host found with netstat -a. =)

OK....come on give....was it traceable or not? You guys got me hanging here. :D
Ok you posted while I was bitching.....now is that his true IP and such?
With out giving the actual IP or anything...can you give some details.???
Yup he got me ;)
I would assume AIM acts in the same fashion...
EDIT: Yup it gave my full IP. Not that I care since 10-15 minutes from now it will be poof and possibly be someone elses due to my dial up, but yeah he got it. And it was right.
One thing left to do...
/me bows.
Thanks guys.
I assumed it would be that way, but it is nice to have it proved. Greens to both of you except I got to spread them around before I can give to either of you again.
With AIM AOL proxy:
I wonder why MSN isn't that smart.Quote:
Use this setting for maximum security. This indicates that if a File Transfer or Direct IM proposal is accepted by you or your buddy, your IP address is not revealed. Performance may be slower, and this will not work if your buddy is using older software.
