How to
install/reinstall "System Restore" funktion in windows xp
I am not real sure what you are asking.
If you are asking how to turn on the 'System Restore' function, you right click on 'My Computer'. Selecy 'Properties' and then 'System Restore', and then remove the check mark in the 'Turn Off System Restore' box.
I want to uninstall the System Restore from my laptop, NOT disable it.
Ok then make up your mind!!!Quote:

As far as I know the 'System Restore' functions is an integral part of the Windows XP operating system and you can not uninstall it.
OK, how can I repair it if it has ben damaged?
files or regentries
moxnix is right. you can disable it, but not unsintall it.
Using your XP recovery/installation disk, you can reinstall your Windows system (saves files and settings) or reformat and reinstall your operating system ( wipes all files and settings clean).Quote:

Even if you attempt to reinstall over you existing window installation, you should have your important files and such backed up. Some times (usually actually) they will be whiped or corrupted during a reinstallation.
I am a little confused.
WHAT has been damaged?Quote:

1. The information held at the system restore points that XP has created? (The restore data)
2. The actual system restore application itself?
Is your system working properly right now?
If it is, manually create a new system restore point and delete the others.
If it is not, and you cannot restore to a point where it was, you will have to repair/recover/reinstall as Moxnix and others have explained.
Good luck
Yes The actual system restore application itself!
What makes you think that it is the application rather than the data it is trying to use..........
When you try to do a system restore, what messages do you get?.....what happens?
Cheers
Before clearing spywares and viruses from my computer I disabled system restore, and efter that all have been done I tried to enable system restore, but I got 2 different messages in different situations.
1) DisbaleSR = 1 // Service started and Stopped (msg from service manager) // Cannot start (from start menu)
2) DisableSR = 0 // Cannot start file not found (msg from service manager) // Cannot start
Hmm...
Do some one have some suggestion to this problem?
I tried to run SFC /scannow
and i tried to repair with complet overinstallation / repair mode
Ok I will have to agree with Moxix on this one you will need to use your XP disk to repair system restore. Other that that you could C: Format but only as a last resort
Yes I know and I did it with no result.
And to format my HD is not so good. I want to fix it without loosing some of my programs and keep them.
It takes a lot of time to reinstall them and config and update efter installation so that I can uses them agane so as I need.
Pls help me without complete reinstallation of whole windows.
Thanks all, I got answer now
It was just some Register entries that config sysrestore was wrong
eh, those computres makes so much troubles
Would you care to expand a little? I'm interested in how you identified the reg entries as the "Culprit," along with which ones they were, what they were set to, and what you changed them to.Quote:

I'm sure this would help others too! Plus, that's what the AntiOnline forums are about ... sharing knowledge.
Glad to hear you got it fixed! :)
Curious.. are these the exact messages?Quote:

I would be not so suprised that one of your spyware's wasn't a Cool Web Search varient. one of the areas damaged in the registry is the system restore settings..
Also a needed service may have been disabled..
For those watching it would be nice, if not polite, to enlighten us to your cure..
Cheers
