tisk tisk tisk...you should take your own advice and not smoke er0k. LOL...remember the advice you gave me about not smokeing?
I quit for over a year now. I succeeded without one craving with that book from Allen Carr.
You need to have got that click. For me it was when I said to myself : "Hey, now i'm gonna try and keep trying till i quit". Anyway i have no experience with nicorette, but there are a few ways, and although i can advise that book i used, its still up to you, to you to find the way you're most comfortable with.

Good luck,
I tried it with Allen Carr's book, and it seemed to work: I really had that mind-set he's talking about... after a week, I quit quitting :D
Just go cold turkey! Let the people around/close to you know so they can support you.
I tried the gum... it was hard to keep it lit.
The damn patches kept ripping all the skin off my lips...
I never tried the book... but you'd look damn funny with a book sticking out of your face....
Like Neg... I quit quitting....
Phish, not smoke it, you gotta patch the book on your shoulder. Smartass :DQuote:

if use that gum for a long time, you can get mouth cancer, just like the guys the chew tobacco.
about patches, use only with a medical prescription. U can get dizzy using those.
I find if you roll the patches up and smoke them they are much more effective calming the cravings. As for the gum i find it's hard to ignite after it has been in your mouth. There was also the inhaler and if you add a smal extension onto it you can use it like a bong or just stick a cig in the end and it works a lot better.
i dont think you can get mouth cancer from the gum, its just nicotine, no carcenigens exist in it. The only problem you might have with nicotine is a thin blood problem.Quote:

Yeah i appreciate everyone's help, love how sincere everyone is.
you must quit (i did). smoke can kill you. see this video about this:

I would recommend the gum or the inhaler. The few friends I have that have quit (seriously intended to) did better with a once in a while fix, rather than something that pumps nicotine through your system all day.
I tried the patch.. didn't work... bad time to try.
If you have the willpower, cold-turkey does work.
I assume the gum is intented to use less and less as time goes by. This is fooling yourself. If you really want to do this "slowing down till you stop" thing you might as well do it with cigarettes. You could, of course, justify that the gum is less bad, but this really doesn't make any difference if you smoked for more then a couple of months.
When I quit smoking, I quit cold turkey. I recommend doing the same. Try finding something to do that doesn't make it possible for you to smoke (just remember not to choose something that could turn into an addiction).
The gum sucks, and it tastes like ****. A good buddy of mine tried that smokeaway system and he said it took him a week to kick that monkey. I hear it doesn't cost all that much. $30 or so?
the smokeaway system eh.. you know any more about it?
Yea, it's for pussys who want to give up smoking.Quote:
And why do I see books here for an addiction? I'd get pissed and end up using that book for rolling papers.
Why stop smoking? Do you REALLY want those ten years it took off your life? You really want to have to go through a hip replacement? Or have adult diapers on?
That gum..... So like, now that you've actually tasted that ****... Heh, wouldn't you rather chew a ball sac? lol tastes like hell doesn't it? Like some ***** at the quit smoking gum factory rubs each piece with his balls and sticks it up his ass before packaging with love and care.
And don't get me started on that law saying you can't smoke in public. Ohhhhh bitch. ****, going to jail with killers and ****, they ask what you did and you have to look at them and say "I smoke". LOL.
well, my grandma died at 46 from smoking, i want to be at least 56.. for another, the reason i really want to quit is because im tired of feeling like **** all the time :)
My Grandpa died when I was in first grade. Personally I'm looking forward to being put on a Morphine drip for Cancer.
"You mean I get to smoke, possibly sue a Tobacco company for millions, AND get Morphine until I die?!?!?!?!?!?!?" - gore 2 years ago.
well after last night that sounds pretty good gore..
I have quit 5 different times now. 1)Cold turkey 6 months 2)Patches 3 months 3)gum 2 weeks? (didn't get to far) 4) Cold turkey 2.5 years 5) Cold turkey so far 1.5 years and going.
I have had no luck with anything but cold turkey. It is the best and only method imo.
Good luck! You -can- do it. Just have to have the right mind frame.

When I quit (1.5 years, then lied to myself that I could have a couple and not start smoking again  ), I started off with Nicoderm patches (they have a step program that steps you off of the patches, which I found appealing).
After a couple of days of walking around campus and my knees buckling, I talked to my doctor and he put me on Zyban. You have to be careful with the combination of the two because it can raise blood pressure (talk to the doctor about it); however, after I started using both at the same time, people could literally blow smoke in my face and I could have cared less :)
Anyway, worked like a charm, but it comes down to you wanting to quit. There were still times I had severe cravings and despite the medicine it still took me saying no (whereas when I have tried to quit lately, it has been more of a 'hell yea' *sigh* ).
I quit with the patch & I thought it worked great. It was pretty easy, the way they step down the nicotine amount. The only problem I ever had was if I went to sleep at night with the patch on I had some pretty bizarre dreams. But then again they were kinda interesting....
My solution to that was to put one on first thing in the morning (which is usually when I was wanting one the most anyway). By the time evening rolls around they aren't quite as strong and I slept better...but you are right, hell of a time going to sleep with them and VERY weird dreams while wearing them.Quote:
