sorry if I'm being a little thick. It seems to be free... I understand that beta editions usually are, but this is microsoft...
I got this at the bottom of the E-Mail:
Items:
Product: Windows XP Professional x64 Edition - Download
Quantity: 1
Order Total: US$0.00
So I guess so... :D
from here: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/6...n/upgrade.mspx
So, yes, it's free. For a time.Quote:
the pre-release software is time-limited and will expire in 360 days.
wow! Just installed it. I like it, pretty quick. (That could be b/c it is a fresh install on a new partition) but so far it seems to be pretty quick. Haven't put it through any rough testing (yet) but I will soon enough. :)
Wish I had x64 hardware to run it on. Or am I missing something? I assume this won't run on my AMD T-Bird 900Mhz?
x64 Edition only run on 64 bits processor. It won't run under 32 bits processor.
That's what I thought, thanks...anyone got an Athlon64 they aren't using? :P
I'm still waiting for the **** nForce 4 motherboard to came out in Quebec! Why nForce4? Because it support PCI-E video card for AMD processor.
I want to try to get a SLI card, have to wait for a rpice drop I guess. Anyways, put my new x64 through some hoops (3D rendering, Video Rendering) Now, I thought 3DS Max was a 64-bit program, it is isn't it? Anyways, a little faster, honestly I expected more :( oh well. It is still a little improvement over the 32 bit version. Just not as much as I expected.
M$ freee............i need to download it ,though it is a beta and will expire soon but my Amd 64 needs a companion to work to the fullest potential
thanx man
hey wait some thing is wrong ,the link does nt seem to work
what does this mean???Quote:

nope same error , iam usingf firefox ,win xp
tried scearching still the same error!
My x64 decides to reboot my computer whenever I am busy on it... Anyone else have this problem ? My computer didn't do this when I was using win xp (32-bit edition)
It's a beta :). Repport the problem to M$.
If you don't know by now, M$ has a hatred of Firefox. So, you need to have Internet Explorer to download. Or you probably could download it through a download manager!?!Quote:

I checked up on the problem of the rebooting, turns out it is one of my drivers. I suppose the drivers are beta also... I wonder if it has anything to do with my missing sound card driver... ? I've been reporting every problem I've had with x64 (which I encourage everyone who is using x64 to do) that way MS can know what is wrong, and try to fix it.
yup u said itQuote:

it works fine on IE 6.0
man thats not fair on M$'s part ,is it? its some thing like if u want to use M$ prodicts you cannot USE any other products......
dats not fair....
Since it's supposed to be released soon, I thought I might as well wait, and not install the beta.
But are there any more people who have tested the beta? Do you have just a slight performance increase as well, or is it way faster?!
Anyone tried a true 64-bit written application, how did that turn out?
Can't wait to install it on my new 64-bit machine.. ! :)
In the future dont get old threads going again but i would say download the beta and try it before you actualy buy it
