In my world, sadness and happiness are in balance...............
It's just that BAD news sells papers, and makes GREAT TV :(
My motto simply is "do not do or wish on to others that you don,t want onto yourself"Some people do not even think twice before dishing it out to whomever, where ever so yah..my 2cents
I see smiles all around the globe.
//EDIT Don't buy the papers and don't watch TV. ;)
It's entirely due to a lack of smilies and lack of physical exercise. I do my part by riding my bike everywhere and tossing in a smile or two to the disgruntled drivers that sit while I sail by.. :DQuote:

We detest you, ya know. :D But only because we wish we were out there with you. :pQuote:

When I lived in TO I used to ride my bike to work everyday....all year round..subway if it was REALLY bad
I didnt get a car til I was 33
I would ride to work again...but I cant figure out how to get the kids and all thier sh$t to school and home everyday
I think you have something there though Ms M...lack of excerise.
I workout to releive the stress of dealing with Lusers and Idi0ts everyday...keeps me from smacking them upside the head

I was out on my bike last night for the first time in ages. Only two wheeled fun I get now after selling my motorbike to pay for a new kitchen, not that I'm bitter...
Going out again tonight to try to get the beer gut down a bit.
I'd love to cycle or walk to work but it a 75 mile round trip. I used to drive 110 miles a day until I changed job.
Regular excercise is as effective as prozac for mild depression apparently.
When I encounter someone who seems inexplicably sad,
I smack 'em around a little bit and give 'em something to
really be sad about.
And, right there, you are missing the finest stress reliever known to man, or woman... ;)Quote:

I also find that, (being able to drive home at lunchtime), a nice game of CounterStrike at midday can work wonders for one's post prandial tantrums.... :D
Unfortunately for my users that "little avenue of pleasure" will soon be cut off... I'm pretty sure we have a new house that is much too far away to be driving home at lunch... *SIGH*... But it has it's advantages....
NICE HOUSE TS
Is that a LAKE??

Geee...and I thought it was sex..... ;)
Unfortunately ...been too tired for that lately :(
Off to my workout

WOW. Nice. Makes all the hard work a little better eh? A house like that out here would be a few million. Wayyy outside my league.
Morgan:
Yep, that's a lake... With, (as seen by me), 18" Carp, 12" Bass and having described to me 10" Crappie, 8" Bluegill and a Walleye...... It has real fish as opposed to a lot of the lakes that have 2 1/2" bluegill by the gazillions and that's it.... I can fish when I get home from work..... :D
...and let me re-phrase... The best stress reliever known to an IT person dealing with (L)users.... Better? ;)
Though, as you get older you'll find that computers are less effort.....
Road: Oh yes.... No doubt..... and keeping the current house as an investment in _the_ city in SE Michigan to be in is a real bonus too....
Well I am officially jealous. In a good way.
Ah...thats my dream.
Buy a house on the lake...
I live in cottage country...we have lots of lakes up here...just waiting til the kids are in college ..8 years or so...til then I kinda wanna stay urban...
Have been walleye or pickerel (as we canucks call it) fishing already....although they say they just turned on last weekend. Every thing is a little late this year..so they say.
My partner loves to hunt muskie...we pack up the truck\boat and go almost every weekend..I dont fish...I sit in the boat and read fiction. Its a nice change from the tech stuff
Its one of my favorite things..being on the water.
I think all started with sadness...why there is so much...Excerise makes me a much nicer person...when I am down it makes me feel better.
I dont let sadness get to me...I will myself out of it....I go for a drive up the river...I love the colour of it..that deep slate blue....and watching the sparklies (sunlight)
I avoid negative people
I try and turn around bad things ..and look at it from a different angle
I do not dwell in the past...I look to the future
I allow myself to dream

Meh, there isn't, we just precieve it that way. I'm going to attempt a book that I picked up in a borders a few weeks ago and leafed through.
"It's like when people say how evil the world is. Most people say the world is a pretty evil place, yet if they were asked to have a second chance at life, most say they would take that chance. This implies that there is actually less evil than good, because if the opposite were true, people would avoid having to experience it again."
It's simular to how more people obey the law than break it. Evil deeds make the air-ways because they are more rare. Inversely, we'd be watching a story about someone stopping at a Red Light instead of robbing a bank.
The world has plenty of saddness; true. Dispair not, for there is more good than evil in it--the amount of sadness that actually exists helps us appreciate it. Happy/sad are relative terms--neither can exist without the other. So appreciate your sadness, and learn from it, for without it you could not be happy.
I felt a great disturbance in the Force...as if millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced. I fear something terrible has happened.
See, I felt it in the force before I watched it and I knew. Death Star needs to be fully fuctional to wipe out Skywalker Ranch. IMHO
Yep, there was truly much sadness. Star Wars Episode III SUCKS ....and that idiot @ newsweek who said it was better than the classics is a moron!
Sorry, I should've posted back sooner.....
yup america is a great place to be. as are other first world nations. there is allot less sadness for those that have. but i think the question was asked about "the world". i doubt the people in Sumatra would say it's all relative. nor would those living in dufar say it's all a matter of perspective. (just to name a couple.) not that they can't find happiness but im sure saddness is much more common these days. be thankfull you have and try to help those that do not.
Welll.... I saw episode 3 and without reading one review (minus rust's comment) and I think it's fantastic.
You betray the Rebellion and I find your faith disturbing.Quote:

TigerShark is that the backyard you've been shooting rodents in? Looks like they would have a homeowners association that would get a little grumpy. I know with mine we have some serious niggling happening around here. I've already been warned and fined for having " inadequate / improper blinds" for my windows. They wouldn't even let us have political signs for the election! I put mine up anyway. They said no fireworks; my yard is full of them from the weekend! That keg of ale stayed out all of last winter.
:D
I know you probably earned your house the normal way but I was lucky enough to have a few trust funds.
Having been spawned from a small farming community, no trust funds for this little boy. Damn the luck. :p
Road do you have any children? ........For some odd reason my brain can't fathom bringing a child into this world/place/earth/planet/galaxy/universe without having adequate funds/ means of living and good education! No few minutes of pleasure can override that cognitive process of mine. I've set up several special funds for my future children. I won't be having them on my own, I believe in the fact that there are more children than can be parented on our planet! I plan on adopting a few kids from Russia. Besides I've tripped too much acid as a kid................(a third person laughs inside my head.) Now, all I have to do is grow up, stop being a playboy and find a suitable mum for my newfound wealth........At least I can say I did my part for the ****ed-over children in this world.Quote:
