Unix security info (NOT mine)

I was going to do some stuff on Unix security but while I was researching I found these pages and thought man,I can't compete with this right now, but the security tutorials forum has very small amounts of Unix in it and I wanted to add to it, but well, I found these pages and thought damn this is great. I can't take credit for it obviously, but again, to help people who are looking in this section of AO for info :

The first two links are ****. No offense. The first on is a link to a bunch of late 80's, early 90's papers, somewhat outdated IMHO. And the second one is just tools of the sort you'll find at any security site. (COTSE for example)

The third appears to be the CERT Unix security checklist. Good document. Worth reading.

Don't practice "security by obscurity;" that is, don't assume that users are stupid. Some users are smarter than your assumptions. ;)

OK, I just woke up heh. Anyway, thanks much, I know the one was dated, but I wanted to post it because well, even though it's dated, it had good info for the time it was released. I've read a lot of papers that were dated to see how things have changed over the years which is why I left the link in tact.

The other I agree is very good and I'm hoping to add more Unix security.

:confused: Why is this thread extremely negative? Blah, oh well... Anyways, I think although the information COULD be out-dated however useful. I for one am all for information of any kind at any time. :)

I think because the Spec had something to say to gore and d0pp and I posted to say something to him, and then someone else ( I guess..never saw him negged ) came along and negged him and then he packed up his post and left...so I withdrew my post as it was no longer relevant...second time today that's happened...in two separate threads...but gore wasn't the object of the other comments he made.

Hope that solves the mystery.

I made it to bring up something on AO dude did you expect anything less? Complicated as Unix security ;) I was going to greenie it but, I felt like an ass doing it to my own thread.
