Anyone else here play regularly?
when i have money to play buy it....
I've been jamming to the demo. One day I'll get to the store to buy it. Fiance dreads bestbuy, so I don't get there too often :P.
why would someone be scared of BestBuy
Cause she is 100% non-technical and feels out of place there. Not to mention the one here is VERY overcrowded during all hours that its open.
I played it pretty regularly for a week or two but then a few things started happening that led me to take a break from it (bugs, spawn campers, squad leaders hiding so everyone can spawn on them (makes clearing a base impossible), imbalanced units (the helicopters and planes are ludicrous in the amount of damage they can take), and so help me god vehicle stealers (that one made me snap)...etc...I still like it, still play it (even got my lance corporal), but I hope the upcoming patch at least fixes some of the more annoying things like the browser.
EDIT: Funny side note on the vehicle thing...our team SUCKED...they would make it maybe 45s in a vehicle...so I patiently waited for the Abrams to spawn and then before I could even hit e to get in the vehicle a teammate jumps in and drives off and doesn't even wait for me to be a turret gunner (grr). So I jump in a jeep drive to another base, jump in a tank, go off to battle, clear out the enemy base take the flag, jump out of my tank to repair it (engineer), and watch my tard teammate freaking jump in and drive off my vehicle (not even fully repaired)...and then turn around and shoot me when I complained...alright I think to myself...gonna be that way eh? So I drive back to our main base and MINE EVERY vehicle and promptly leave...Things like that have made me sour on BF2...but on the rare occasion when you can get a bunch of people working together and not behaving like 2 year olds it can be alot of fun.
I play SOCOM 1 and 2. I know it's not BF but I would think that it's actually better and more fun. All the games are consistent and you have voice chat. SOCOM 3 will have vehicles.

i've been going a little nuts on BattleField Vietnam..
sorry just had to throw in my 5 dollars worth... ;)
FRONTY....

ati raideon 9550
SO i guess il save my money to buy better parts then blowing 50$ on a game i cant even play yet
I have BF2, however it doesn't feel like a completed project to me. Perhaps more like beta software. Bugs and small glitches abound, hopefully they'll release a patch soon.
I play it regulary
I should have about 15-20 servers up by Monday for that game.
About half of them ranked if you want to check them out I'll send you some IP's
Wow, that's awesome... Yeah definitly get me some IPs once you get em up...
BTW...1.02 update got released.
We should be standing up a server within a week or two. You can use a place like http://www.bf2tracker.com to find people (and watch your stats, etc) and can find me on as -=CMC=-Kronos. Should be back active on it now that its finally been patched.
What are your Xfire names guys? If you don't have it, you should definitly check it out... www.xfire.com
EDIT: heh, forgot to put mine :P thegrunt

BF2 Sure eats up the bandwidth though.
We have a couple 32 slots up right now and when full their using 3.4Mbps.
i've been seeing 64 slots using 7+mbps
And the bandwidht choke doesn't work :(
For some reason I never really cared for Xfire...we should be getting a server within the next week or so, will post when I know more.
What are the system minimum requirements to run it? I'm afraid it might be time for me to upgrade...
First link off their main page ;)Quote:

They aren't playing with those requirements either...BF2 is a beast.Quote:

* DirectX 9.0c compatible
VIDEO
Video card must have 128 MB or more memory and one of the following chipsets:
* NVIDIA GeForce FX 5700 or greater
* ATI Radeon 8500 or greater
MULTIPLAYER
Multiplayer requires 1 set of discs per PC and a broadband (Cable, DSL, or a faster) connection.Internet or Network (2-64 players).
I've got everything on low with a 9800 pro, 512mb ram, 1753mhz proc... It runs at about 40 fps...
Ouch. My computer *barely* squeaks by according to those specs....meaning it'd be laggy as hell most likely. Time to upgrade! (I've been looking for a good excuse for months!)
On a sidenote, I tried that game briefly the other day and I had trouble killing people. I shot a guy in the forehead like 4 times before he went down....I had no idea that kevlar was that good. =P He was standing at the gunner position in a jeep blasting away. I'm sure he killed dozens of birds and probably shot down an airplane or two but I don't recall ever being hit... Awesome graphics on that game tho.
Was probably either lag or you weren't really hitting them. I have noticed that if you don't shoot in short bursts or with sights up those guns are horribly inaccurate...especially if you just hold down the fire button on an automatic weapon...do agree though...the damage models are a bit off...i swear...shoot someone in the neck with a 50 cal and they walk away...I am sorry but their torso should have just about exploded from the impact....
Guess it goes both ways though, makes you that much harder to kill too :)
EDIT: BTW, I have the following: AMD64 4000+, 1GB 3200DDR, 40 Gb SerialATA, 256MB ATI Radeon X800 XT
And it still runs sluggish in spots...its a very demanding game.
Hah. Yeah, it may have been lag or something. I was using the zoom lens and firing off about 2 rounds at a time from an elevated position though...so it *should* have been hitting. And I swear to God whoever I was shooting at could not aim at all, because it took me a long time to kill him and he never managed to hit me with a freakin' machine gun. o_0
But as you said, that's probably exactly what saved me. He was laying on the trigger. Fun game though! And oh yeah, remember back in the day how you could unload an AK clip into someone in goldeneye and they'd still walk away? That was craziness...Quote:

AMD64 4000+, 1GB 3200DDR, 40 Gb SerialATA, 256MB ATI Radeon X800 XT
The laptop I'm looking at has an AMD64 2.2GHz, 1 GB RAM, 80 gig HD, 128 MB video card for just under $1.1k. I'm now thinking seriously of going higher...
