Nice screenshots, love the GUI on it. Seem's more like a well-designed theme to the new windows interface. Bleh, thanks for the link! :)
lmfao...under the linux for noobs there is an add for firefox "the browser you can trust" that rocks.
I know Windows/Linux users alike that use Firefox. I guess the part of "the browser you can trust" is funny.. :p
doesnt' seem too different from xp.
Looks like xp with a facelift...
So it no doubt has more and better drives. will be released with a 64bit version and have known security problems fixed.....
But what is new and revolutionary... i mean the skin job is tight but i can do stuff like that with windowsblinds and a number of shell replacements too.
This beta at least i have heard nothing about new features that blew the reviewers out of their mind.
Did they cancel the new WinFS system ? i think they're going with NTFS again....
yup canceled winFS for now. they said it would take too long to meet the deadline.
So its lost most of what it was worth becasue of that alone.
IE 7.0 is going to be better than 6.0 so firefox will take a hit in new users. But it doesnt have much going for it anymore aside from the face lift and fixed security issues. Its like they are taking winxp and make the code how it should have been. and then giving it a facelift
So if they are not giving WinFS with it then i'm just going to download 'longhorn transformation pack' and voila, i have my own longhorn long before they release it, because as for these security updates, windowsupdate is there. And for rest, tweaking can be done.
Then i have one question left only..... Then what the hell are they spending there spending there time and money (they have lot, so they can but..) on, since so long?
Isn't it obvious? Transparent window skins. The ultimate waste of CPU cycles...Quote:

;)
But the big question is, will you be able to change it back to windows classic.
if so thats the first thing im doing once i get (insert official release name for longhorn).
I've been waiting for WinFS. That was my main drive for obtaining Longhorn, and if they're taking that out I don't even want it. The new look seems to be the only difference between XP and Longhorn. Really, what the hell has Microsoft been doing? Are they still working on WinFS or did they just quit on it?

geez you make it sound as if its a HUGE waste...everyone knows that you just need to add on some neon lights to your case to gain back the loss of power. after all each neon light = ~10MHz ;)
and last I heard on WinFS is that they are still working on it, and will incorperate it at a later time. Let me look for the article on that thing.
when I was messing with the earlier beta (before even the cool skins) it was nothing other than windows XP with a new name and some new Icons. I was very dissapointed.

Windows Vista

That looks EXACTLY like XP with a cool theme. I know there is some tweaking under the hood but... unless something changes I may not deploy this. And just phase in with new hardware?
Just uninstalled windows transformation pack after 2 weeks, & if there is no serious tweak under the hood, there is no way i am going for this horn( however 'long' it is).
HAHA That's what I'm doing with XP. Most workstations here are still 2000Quote:

Long live Vista: :p
Full StoryQuote:
It's not Longhorn anymore. Microsoft today announced that Windows Vista will be the official name of the next version of its flagship operating system, and that beta 1 of the OS will arrive by August 3.
Cheers:
