hmm, looks like they are hell bent on London.
Just detinators this time.........................Which is just a scare tactic.
Mind you it could be a decoy, or a come on. I guess we'll find out over the next day or so.
Bit of an aprehensive time for me. My daughter is at a University in the north of the country, for a summer school. She is due to travel back here tomorrow, via london and the tube.
Hi jinxy,
Go for a nice summer drive and pick her up...she'll be delighted and surprised and you'll know she's safe,
Eg ;)
Edit: It could be just their way of saying ' you missed us '...and who the police think died really didn't...wasn't them at all.
Could be another cell trying to duplicate the crime.
Copycat.
Better "reach out" to the Muslim community some more. Can you change the mind of a fanatic? They are called fanatic for a reason. But if you get serious, we have some room at Club Med Cuba.
Eg,
I wish I could go for a nice 4+ hour drive to pick her up. If it were possible I would. As it is i'm working on getting her back without going via London. It's totaly mad, but I can fly from my local airport to Spain for less than 1/4 of the price to fly from Newcastle to Southampton.
Actually, the news reported an explosion did go off.. so you know. My thoughts and prayers go out to London as a whole, as they seem to be holding a severely fanatical terrorist cell.Quote:

"So you know"...they were detonators, as jinxy indicated. The BBC and all other news sources have reported (that I've heard) the same information.Quote:

Story from the BBCQuote:
The minor explosions - two weeks after blasts killed 56 - involved detonators only, a BBC reporter said. There was one injury
Hi Jinxy
If it is Newcastle you might look at going to York............I believe you can still get direct to Southampton from there..................otherwise look at changing at Doncaster or Sheffield, or even Peterborough.
Or you can go "the wrong side of the pennines" via Manchester. Or the scenic route via Birmingham.
Just a few ideas :)
Jinxy ~ My thoughts are with you and your daughter. I know this is scary, and it's hard to deal with. But not going on with life will give them a big victory. It has to strengthen your resolve. Be strong, and be unafraid. You've got a lot of support on this side of the pond.
Hi debs,
I agree...this should not distract someone from their daily life...however, there is also a very old saying to ' err on the side of caution '...two attacks on London transportation in as little as two weeks would not keep me from using it but would keep me from allowing my children to use it.
Eg ;)
Hi Debs,
Thanks for the concern. Hope all is well with your daughter also.
Spyder................Detininators, when they go off, cause an explosion.
It appears, they may not have activated the main charge this time round.....................Reports are saying forensic evedence is available. This would look like a bodged job.
Nihil,
Virgin have a direct service from Newcastle.................I'm hopeing to get her home that way. The time she leaves is the problem, it is quite late and I do not want her stranded over night.
Hi,
It seems the Detanators Couldn't Fire the Actual Explosives

London attackers 'meant to kill'
The people behind the latest attacks in London meant to kill, the head of the Metropolitan Police has said.
But Sir Ian Blair said evidence left at the scenes could be very helpful to police and added "the intention of the terrorists has failed".
Attempts were made to set off explosives at four locations, including three Tube stations and on one bus.
Sir Ian said the ambulance service had not taken anyone to hospital after the blasts, which were almost simultaneous.
Mayor Ken Livingstone praised the emergency services and said the people of London would "get through this".
'Unexploded' devices
Sir Ian said there was a "resonance" with the bomb attacks which killed 56 people two weeks ago, but that it was too early to draw any conclusions about whether they were linked.
HAVE YOUR SAY
The streets are all taped off and there are police everywhere

Police forensic experts are examining the scenes, at Tube stations in Oval, Warren Street and Shepherd's Bush, and on a bus in Shoreditch, east London.
He said important information could be recovered. "From what I understand, some of the devices remain unexploded," he said.
The Met commissioner warned against "smearing" any particular community with the blame for Thursday's attacks.
"These are criminal acts and we are in pursuit of a set of criminals," he said.
'Difficult day'
He said it had been "another difficult day" for Londoners, but that the city was already "back to business".
Ken Livingstone said: "It is not surprising that we have had another attempt to take life rapidly after the first attacks.
"Those people whose memories stretch back to the 70s, 80s and 90s will remember there were horrifying bombing campaigns in London. We got through that and we'll get through this."
Mr Livingstone backed a police appeal for information on who may have been behind the attacks.
He said religious leaders should remind their congregations of the immorality of what had happened and that people should come forward even if the was only "a remote possibility" that they could help catch those to blame.
Jinxy
I presume you already have this:

I would work on arrival time at Southampton, and that tells you when she has to leave. There are other ways to get to Southampton...Birmingham for example..............about six hour's journey, but she would have to leave quite early. Otherwise, so long as she is not in London before 7.30 (19.30Hrs), she should be OK............if you look at the track records, the bombings are at peak periods.
Hope that helps
Scarry i didn't think that they would hit the same place twice.
Hope they don't have any more of these things planned.
Okay, lol.. chill Melissa.. I didn't know. The Fox news I was watching said there were small explosions. That was confirmed by your own article.. I didn't know the cause of it was detonators though. Sorry..Quote:

As I have learned. My apologies guys..Quote:

I knew that I'd phrased that badly. Couldn't seem to get the words to come out right today. No, my child wouldn't be anywhere near London's transport. I meant that they were finding alternate routes to carry on with their lives. It seemed like here, after 9/11, there were a great number of people who wanted to go down the rabbit hole, in a manner of speaking.Quote:
