With Sheehan and Co. traveling for 30 days +, I predict several job vacancies ;)

She's serving the purpose of whomever keeps her in the news: democrats use her as an anti-war "symbol", republicans use her as a shooting target for everything they don't like.

She's been in the news for what seems like a decade - in other words: as long as the president has been vacationing. Maybe he should stop vacationing, and the problem might go away...

Cindy is a media slut who serves no purpose other than to further her own wacko agenda. She dishonors her son's memory and all others who have served in the U.S. military.

Thanks to rational groups like the You Don't Speak For Us, Cindy tour...maybe another, more sensible voice will be heard. Oh wait, the media would have to be unbiased for that to happen... :rolleyes:

I can't stand Sheehan. She's nothing but an illlusion. Her stance is insulting to her son and all of our other armed forces, she disgraces the Gold Star emblem into a political tool, she has a stance, but nothing but a stance. She offers nothing but a naive anicdote to a situation I don't believe she's mentally stable enough to be a campaigning spokesperson towards in any regards.

Just because a gathering of people protest doesn't mean more opposition to the effort in Iraq exists than before her, it means they're being more vocal. In reality, the ratio probably hasn't changed much at all. The media however, spins it differently and creates phantom protestors and anti-war supporters than actually are.

This is why the stock market crashed at the end of the 1920s.

It's impossible to pinpoint a change in opinion. I doubt, like you do, that Sheehan had anything to do with it, but fact is that approval ratings are going down. More Americans than ever disapprove of the war: in that aspect, the ratio has changed a LOT.

On another hand: she's lost a child, give her a break. She's deserved the right to say whatever she wants to say, imo, for as long as she wants to... She might be a nutcase, she might be a media slut... she lost a child! I want to see the first woman that can keep her cool in a situation like that.
If I would ever loose a child, I would hope that you could all excuse me from acting like a dick (times fifty!).

The mop-up, stabilizing the country, the police action, or whatever we want to label it, is what is costing us dearly and dragging on.

I believe most of us would pour our hearts out to her and grieve with her for the loss of her child. However she is not the only and unfortunately will not be the only in the future. Granted that doesn’t mean that she should just suck it up and move on. And it is even more disappointing that everyone with even the smallest agenda to the left or to the right, may be using her like a puppet, and the situation for their gain.

Americans are, for the most part, opposed to war...they are opposed to putting their soldiers in harm's way...but usually support them when they are ( in harm's way )...Canadians, ontheotherhand, have never protested against any war we've been in...we don't get involved in many...but we like to fight. :D ( see hockey )

Which reminds me of the debate years ago when the NHL was trying to get a contract with an American network ( NBC, ABC, CBS ) to carry games and was refused on the basis it was too violent for the American viewing audience. :D

It always amazed me how wrong the world view is of Americans.

This lady doesn't really bother me to be perfectly honest. All will be accepted here.

She can't see the president because she poses a potential physical threat now.

She can march up to the beltway, wrap some gypsy **** around her head, trip some acid and throw her sons medals over a display on TV for all I care.

She can say she's going to ride his ass because she's not kissing his ass anymore. Doesn't really bother me.

While you're at it ride all these pork barrel spending "representatives" in the beltway. Keep them walking on eggshells. They don't need to be getting so relaxed that they have the time to be getting blo*jobs from Chandra Levy, Monica lewinsky etc...etc... McGreevey's up there fagging a guy while he's married and putting him in a homeland security position. They give themselves raises; take the longest vacation I've ever heard of. I don't really care how much they ride their asses. Really, your giving yourself a raise? Think about the pay we give our average troop, if they die the bills get passed off to the wife, and you're up here making over a $100,000 a year and you think you need a raise? Like the one about not allowing cameras to shoot coffins of dead American soldiers being brought home...as an example...like in the first war with Iraq where the camera crews were assigned PR exposure to the war...as another example...

there are always exceptions...people that get unauthorized footage or pictures...but...generally speaking you will never again see camera crews go with ' fighting ' troops into the action like with Vietnam and watch American soldiers dying.

Movies is one thing...real life something completely different...mothers and fathers do not want to turn on the 6 o'clock news and see their son ' johnny ' lose his leg and bleed to death in front of them on television.

How many parents, brothers, sisters, cousins, friends, watched in horror as someone they loved or knew virtually died in front of them on television during the Vietnam war...any coverage now has to be ' approved ' or they don't get to officially participate.

The Boer war really didn't involve the Americans and there was no reason for them to get involved. I wouldn't call that against the war... just didn't concern them...

World War 1.... The US really didn't play a big part in that war... They stayed out because they were afraid of retribution at this point... Remember during the early 1900s the US wasn't really a super power yet..

World War 2.. The US entered late and only because they were directly attacked, had that not happened, they would have stayed out.. This was a US government decision, not the peoples choice.... They were afraid.... still not really a super power... they were snivelling cowards. They became a super power when they got the nukes... now they enter every war they can... The nukes made them like body builders that discover steriods.

Now they just want to fight, fight, fight... As for them being war-mongers... They weren't until 50 years ago... but now they are... With the NRA, The Military Supporters (that still seems like an oxymoron to me), The Stupidity in government... They want War.. Korea, Vietnam, The Gulf War, The War on Terrorism... The Cold War.. add to that all the incursions and black ops missions to replace world leaders so that they could contol the countries and various other crimes they've committed.

As for Cindy Sheehan... let her do what she wants... If Bush wasn't so much of a pussy he'd leave behind his Secret Service and go to her home to talk to her... He's got no problem sending boys to their deaths but he won't put his own life at risk... Remember way back when.. or stories of it anyways.. When Leaders would take their troops into battle... They'd be there... not 1000s of miles away in a comfy chair with a cigar and cognac.. That alone should be a crime..

I think Cindy has every right to be doing what she's doing.. If I was a parent with a kid in the "War"... I'd slap them for going, but ultimately it's their life... You can't stop them... but if they were killed in action in a meaningless war like this one.. I'd be firing a rocket launcher straight at the White House... and I'm surprised she's not.. She should have the right to request to kill one of Bush's kids... To make him watch while she does it... Two wrongs don't make a right, but they definately make you feel a little better inside.

Holy ****. !mitation Rust made a political post I agree with. I'm quite sure that if it weren't dark, I could see the pigs flying outside and all the people in hell must be happy with the sudden cooling trend.

I must say that I agree withHTRegz regarding the Boer War. It was of no real interest to the USA, and was more of a guerilla campaign that a "war" by the standards of those days.
