The IS person at our facility was terminated. How can we get the password for Symantec Antivirus Corporate Edition, or reset that password? She claims, "I can't remember it." Any help/ideas appreciated.

Default password was
symantec

Either:
1. "Persuade" the former IS person to remember.
or
2. Call Symantec.
Those would be far easier than trying to hack it, as you seem to be suggesting.
A bottle of Champaign might help her to remember .... if she couldn't remember .... forget it!
you'd better play elsewhere ....
Or, Have we got some software crackers here?
OK,,, I just uninstalled it and rebooted and installed again..
working fine. Thanks anyway.
I didnt think you could uninstall...without the password????
I maybe mistaken though

How did you uninstall without the password? Are you sure it was even password protected? Where did you do the uninstall, the Management Server, the children servers, the clients? are you sure you got it?

Thought my oldshiemers was kicking in again
...as I remember having to update the corp edition...7.0 to 7.5
and had symantec tech support walk me throught hacking it out of the registry as it would not update.
and I had to reboot after removing every module.....total 16 reboots with the reinstall...(NT4 server)
What a pain!!!!

Come on, be a devil.
spill the beans
what did you DO to her [ex-IS :D]
Thanks DjM
I have heard about that tool...
I have received version 10 with the renewal\support plan...but have been very hesitant to actually update the current version....from my previous experience :(
I have had no issues with 8.1....unlike the previous versions and the communication/ resource issues........and crashing a Pervasive SQL database app once a day
I HAD to update to stabilize
All is well...and stable now
Have seen a huge reduction in viruses getting in by filtering\blocking attachments at the front line...Symantec is the second level now.
Its the spyware that is keeping me busy

The horse13 and I have had an ongoing discussion about V.10 (be afraid, be very afraid) :eek:Quote:

For future reference, here's the answer. There is a tool in the Symantec directory on the management server called iforgot.exe. If you run this on the system it will generate a hash that can be sent to Symantec Support. Support will then turn around the password via email. However, it MUST be called in as a support call. I haven't tried to run a cracker on it, but anything is possible. ;)
