Hi there Robo
You can set it so that Windows XP logs in automatically to a predetermined set of credentials (username and password) that are hard coded into the Windows registry.
This article will give you some further detail:

Hope this helps

Interesting section on windows passwords.
First off.. Welcome to AO...
Second.. Lose the caps.. It's rude...
Third.. Why do you think XP asks for a password?
Forth.. Think long and hard before asking a question..
Yes.. Security.. When done properly there's NO WAY around it.. That's the whole point of security..
If you have phisical access to the box you might stand a chance.. There are numerous ways to reset the admin password.. I suggest using the search function, it has been covered several times in the past..
Windows XP and Windows 2000 both allow for this awful "feature". It's a simple registry hack. If you googled, you'd have found the following link:

Now, I'm trying to win a bet too. I'm taking the under on how long before you're pwned if you implement this crap.

SirDice, isn't it true that for every security, there is an anti-security? I agree that when security is done correctly, it is very difficult to get around it....however, nothing in this world is truly perfect and therefore has some sort of flaw. In short, where there is a will, there is a way........and all of the rest of that cliche stuff...lol what do you think?Quote:

Spekter.. You're right.. There's no such thing as 100% secure.. Given enough time, money and resources any security can and will get broken.. I was merely speaking in an Utopian kind of way.. ;)
as opposed to any other OS.Quote:
And given that you are dealing with Microsoft there is a very quick and easy way around their local "security".
I would like to know.....what exacting are you refering to
You can PM me if you think its politically incorrect
You can pretty well get around any OSes security with physical access to the machine.

If it is a single user home pc, there can't be any harm in it.Quote:

My wife would become very impatient if I made her use a
password to sign on to her own pc.
Even a single-user home PC should have basic security set if it is connected to the Internet. Anyway, I'm not sure we really answered the original post. TechGrunt provided access to information on how to do automatic logins (not a good idea). There were some other suggestions. I think the operative phrase in the question was:
Aside from the automatic login, there are biometrics (fingerprint readers) that allow access without typing in a password. These are legitimate methods of getting past the password prompt, if that is the intent of the question. If it is not the intent of the question, then the first rule applies: Physical access defeats any security.Quote:

IS THIS RUDE?!?!?!?!Quote:
Second.. Lose the caps.. It's rude...
Also, you can boot into another OS (live boot) and try to figure the password out that way as well. That is if LANMAN is enabled, otherwise, from what I've heard, good luck.

Oh and the log in function can be taken care of with TweakUI Powertoys it can enable you to log on automatically at start up....
I understand, thanks for clearing that up, and keep up the good work. :DQuote:

Greeting's
tinker, I'm sorry to say this but you lost all the respect here and no one give's a rat's a** here about YOU and your comments. You must at least improve your language.
FRANKLY I'M NOT SORRY FOR WHAT I just SAID.
As far as making it so you don't have to type a password, you could always remove the password...
Does this login page have usernames and pictures there, or a place to type a user name? (This will determine if its the welcome screen, or the domain login screen).
As far as the email, do you have a hotmail or msn account? I think this is generally what this is linked to.
I have nothing against Spekter1080, or anyone else personally on this forum, and I'm not one to say things like this very often...and at that, I'm not really in a position on this forum to say very much against anyone, but I do feel the need to say something.Quote:

The post that Spekter1080 posted was nothing extravagant, but I'm not saying anything personally against him. The thing is everyone gives him AntiPoints, and this information has been stated all over this forum numerous times. Again, I don't think that he shouldn't have posted; I think it was fine of him, he was correcting someone, and because the origonal poster was new, but everyone gives him points like he wrote a tutorial or something.
WTF metguru
AP's are just electrons in the ether
they don't mean dick
I've just loaded your account with some
So, do YOU feel better now ??
PyroTechnics :
more details as to the OS and mail client
at a guess :p
Windows Home edition
Outlook Express
Correct me if I'm wrong .......
but as qualified as some here are, mind reading was NOT a cert at college :p
still waiting
hey, metguru, nice defense build up (you said something, like 1 and a half paragraphs about not having a beef with anyone), a little butt kissing always takes away some of the hurt...like an aspirin the size of a brick. I agree that the posts were a little repetitive, but they were similar, not the same. I sort of gave a collective response, a summation, if you will...
As for foxyloxey....you deserve a mountain of antipoints for what you said....lol *cheers* all hail the moderators :D

I tried to make my post more 'subtle', because I wasn't trying to make a big deal about it; I had just been noticing it some in this forum.Quote:
I think if they weren't over used, then they might end up meaning something. (just my opinion)Quote:

That wasn't really the point of my post, I was just wanting to make notice of it, but I guess thats fine, lol. Also, I guess that makes me feel a little more free to post, because I was afraid that if I posted, I might get negged if someone didn't like my post or something...but this is getting off subject, so i'm done with this conversation.Quote:
