If I'm MIA for a couple of months... you'll know why!
I'm buying every top of the line video game out there to go with the $600 video card!
Have to take advantage of it because in 6 months... it'll be the cookie cutter card everyone has.

Very nice. I'm not a big fan of ATI but I'm sure it'll be great. I would hook that soundcard up to a surround sound system, though.
Sweet!! Have fun.
-
I'm going with Korp, I was drooling until I saw ATI ;)
Personally I would have gone for an Nvidia GeForce FX 7800 or something.
Wow, are you gonig with water cooling? Those are some pretty hot parts in there.

Hey... I didn't have the option. My boss decided we needed new PCs for home to work over the VPN... he ordered them! lol
-
Damn, lucky you! I ordered a Macbook Pro on Friday (I'm still waiting on it... :( HURRY UP!), and it's a beast for a lappy. I'm pumped.
Anyways, nice lookin' computer. Want to give it to me? Thanks. :-)

Well.. yes and no. It is mine to use, not to keep. But same with one of my other desktops and laptop. If I leave here... they go back.
That kit wasn't *too* much. It was $2800 after customizing.

MicroBurn: I've always wanted a MAC. Too bad we don't use them here and I'm too cheap to buy one... :(
-
You being cheap has ntohing to do with it. Them being over priced does :)
-
Howdy.
Well it seems someone has obtained some bragging rights with there new razzle dazzle box :D.
So the question remains, are you going to overclock that baby to see what she can really do? Or are you going to take it nice and slow ;)
anyhow looks like some fine piece of machinery you have scored there.

I think I'm going to take it nice and slow. I suppose I *could* overclock it... but really.. with those specs... what is the point?
It's already dual core with 4gigs of ram... the video card is what I was most happy about. I've never had anything near top of the line when it comes to video... so I'm looking forward to that.
I've also been thinking... now that vmware server is free. I can power off the other three boxes I have and replace them with one? Maybe... maybe not. (can't run the others when you're gaming.)
Ah well, we'll see what I can do with it.
-
Nice! It's always exciting to test drive em for the first time. However, because it's so new and powerful - you'll probably have to wait until Vista or SuSE 10.2 comes out in order to have an OS that will work on it...
:D
-
10.2?? My nbrand new laptop works great with 8.2 Professional. SUSE has always been good at finding hardware even if ti's new.
-
Well, plans for it at this time is to wipe the default install and repartition.
I'm going to dual boot it with Windows Media 2005 (primarily for games/misc. other media) and SuSE 10.1. I'm not completely sure about the dual boot though... because I want to run a lot under vmware and I still want it for games. So, maybe I'll just stick with SuSE 10.1 on my laptop and keep this single boot with a sh17 load of virtual machines.
Then I'm going to load VMWare Server and copy over a bunch of vmware images that I use for this or that. Whax or Backtrack, FC5, XP Pro, 2K or 2k3 Server, etc.
Maybe I'll even get around to messing about with bsd.
I figure I can run 6 virtual machines all set at 512mb mem while still leaving the base OS 1024mb.
