Happy Birthday Canada!
Well just in case some of you didn't know this, today (July 1st) is Canada Day (well it is in Canada anyway). This great nation is 139 years old today.
We may not very often show our patriotism, but this day is the exception. I will be marching the streets today with a big Canadian flag painted on my face, and wearing nothing but Canadian flags. I love my country and everything it stands for.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY CANADA!!!

And I'm in the US celebrating my nation's holiday. LOL... I get two for the price of one given the proximity of Detroit to Windsor. Happy B-day to both great nations! :)

139 years old today.
And she hasn't aged a day, and still has the body of a 21year old. :D

Happy Dominion Day Canada....woot...(so sue me, I'm old school)..... :D
Canada/Dominion Day
MsM
Those weekends in Windsor during this time have to be the best of both, the fireworks display's are awesome (usually 3 very large barges in the middle of Detroit river, stretching from the Ambassador bridge to the Detroit Zoo, at least it used to be). Great times (sigh)

Cheers to all the AO Canadians. Have a nice holiday.

Hey! So it's Canada's birthday, I can salute that just fine. It's been quite awhile since I tipped a brew, so I guess this is as good as an excuse as any. Cheers to the Northern Neighbor!

Happy Canada Day....
This damn rain across Ontario is making it hard for anyone to see the fireworks.. but at least the day was nice so the festivities could be enjoyed.
Peace,

Yep, just got back from Sunnyside Park, we went there for a free concert... saw Amanda Wilkinson, Carolyn Dawn Jaohnson, and Paul Brant live. Never been much of a country fan, but I must say the concert was excellent.
Up until it rained and people started scattering like we had an air raid alert. All we did was make sure the baby was dry, and wait for all the weak people to clear out. The rain stopped, and another thousand spots opened up.
The fireworks got cancelled, though, since there was lightning over the city during the rains. So that was kind of a disappointment. But all in all, sharing the celebration of Canada's inception with ten thousand other people is always fun. Even in the rain. I remember one Canada Day in Ottawa, there's normally like half a million people walking the streets there on this day, and it started thunderstorming around 3pm. Everyone just sort of gave up trying to stay dry and started dancing in the rain. A 500,000 person rain dance. Then the rain cleared and there were fireworks. That was a fun day.
Just another reason I love this country... dancing in the rain in a crowd of half a million people is something I'll never forget.

Damn You... you Bastard! :)
My only goal today was to go to Sunnyside for the concert... I've been planning it for the last month... well the girlfriend and I were laying down watching TV and we fell asleep.. didn't wake up until 5:30.. which mean I'd missed Michelle Wright (one of the 3 I wanted to see) and since it was 5:30 I was missing Amanda Wilkinson.. We left the house and it turned out the International Picnic was going on at the CNE (which is across the street from my house) so we spent the day there... came back around 7ish to drop some stuff off and then we were going to take the streetcar down to Sunnyside... We walked out side after dropping the stuff off and it was pouring so we skipped it... Around 8:30 or so when the rain let up we went back to the CNE Grounds.. grabbed some dinner, watched some Italian chick sing (I couldn't understand it but it was pretty good) and then grabbed a kickass spot for the fireworks right on the water... Waited until 10:30 (stood for over an hour) and they finally started at Ontario Place... and then grabbed some street meat and came home when they finished... I took a shitload of pics and videos on my digi-cam but I dunno what they'll look like.. I'll prolly throw them on a site somewhere and post the link at some point... We're heading back tomorrow and Monday... gonna play some games, enjoy the food and watch some of the concerts... definately worth coming down to check out if you've got nothing better to do and you're in the area... Also if you want to catch fireworks... Ontario place is doing them 3 more times.. on the 3rd for Brazil, the 6th for China and the 8th as an International one I believe... Let me know if ya decide to... since it's all across the street we can meet up and enjoy a beer or something..
Peace,
HT
