internet sharing

hi guys,

i have a cable internet connection and my aunt does not want to invest into an internet company since she doesnt use the internet often but then when she needs to use the internet, she needs to come over to our house to use the internet, so i was wondering if there is anything that we can use for her to share our internet via dialup.

what i have in mind is that she uses her modem to dial to my house phone and then i have one phone line connected to a Win XP Pro box i have and then given the right username and password, i grant her local area access as well as printer and full internet access. but the problem is that i dont know how to set it up.

Dial up is cheap....

Tell her to get her own account.

Cause no matter how fast your connection is...she will be limited by her dialup connection...so why tie up a phone line ????

the cost of a dial up account would be cheaper then a seperate phone line???

here in Canada anyway

yes true dialup is dirt cheap but she uses it only once per month and she only uses it to get some pdf files / forms so it is really not practical to pay the service that u use one month besides local call costs 10 cents, untimed so all she does is spend 10 cents per month to have internet access

OK....

have her remote desktop into your machine and use it that way.....this will tie up the phone line and your machine while she is using the internet....


If thats ok and you dont need to use your computer or phone while shes using it??

but how shes going to rdc without internet access on her part?

If I am not mistaken she can go to any public library and surf for free.
