The other things I carry (that Nihil hasn't mentioned) are:
Latest Nividia drivers
Couple of Nero patches I've needed in the past
Couple of MS DLLs I've needed
HiJack This
Zone Alarm
Kerio
Avast
AVG
Firefox
Thunderbird
Freezip
Filezilla
HJSplit
Produkey (recovers products keys for when customers 'lose' the installation disks for office etc)
Cain
Truecrypt
I'll usually have a linux distro like Back|Track on CD too.
-
To add to the list
Stellar Phoenix Linux
Microsoft Antispyware
Registry Mechanic
Ethreal
Ettercap
-
powerdefragmenter.exe,
SpeedFan for monitoring/testing ambient box/HD/CPU temperatures and voltages.
Nvidia Forceware Utility would take care of the gpu temperature monitoring.
Latest BIOS update.
Latest Printer Drivers
All the latest drivers for the peripherals.
Lastly a good old diary for noting all the entries in your flash drive..just in case..
Just an observation...aren't the lists too skewed towards spyware/av removal programs?
hmmm...need to check out freestone..thanks nihil.

Perhaps these might be useful for checking controlling what is actually running where you come across performance and potential conflict issues?
Process Explorer 9.02
Startup CPL 2.8
Also a defragmenter?
Power Defragmenter 2.0.105
I guess that Adobe Acrobat Reader might come in handy as well?
Couple of tools here:
http://www.panterasoft.com/index.html
Hard drive health and a flash media recovery tool :)
Win ASO RegDefrag 1.2 might come in useful for a badly screwed up Registry.

surely there is like some ULTIMATE MEGA BADASS list somewhere ;)

I think this list does a pretty good job of that actually. Although, I'd say that I much prefer WinRar over any other compression utilities.

And I was thinking this thread was about physical tools..
I'll just hijack the thread a bit to show what I use for any PC related problem..
I use a Victorinox Cybertool and have had it on me every day for 4 years now.. so it needs replacement in about the next couple of months..
I especially like the #8 #10 & #15 Torx bits cause you can never find a torx when you need one !! And the back of one of them is also the IKEA standard hexagon.. Without any bits it's ideal for those screwon thingy's around 'old' PC ports :)
Should I just get a new one (I'd buy the 41 instead of the 34 this time.. for the Saw and file and all that) or should I buy something different ??
