There is a box if you use regular reply, it's only absent from the quick reply box. I'll look into how practical it is to add it.

There is a button next to "quick reply" called "go advanced"..............that gets you smilies into a quick reply;)
I'm sorry, but I don't see it. Only the option to add an icon to the title of the post. Maybe it's just for moderators and admins :)

Ok, then go into your userCP, options scroll to the very bottom, choose full WYSIWYG editing

I personally hate animated smiley's...
Animated yes ... I'm not keen on animated avatars, smilies or some of these great ugly signatures you see on certain forums. But a few non animated ones are often nice to add to a post.
