I just wanted to say what a nice idea sending out an automated birthday greeting was! I've had no less than 4 forums send out birthday greetings, some of which I haven't visited for ages. 3 of them came in spot on midnight, and AOline's was waiting for me this morning.
It's really added a nice touch to the day :drink:

Thanks everyone! We were going for a big family meal, with everyone coming together, 14 of us in all. It started to go pear shaped when both daughters coming from Belfast and Bristol had their flights cancelled last night. Both!! I thought EJ must have gone on strike at first, but it was just the crew out of hours in one case and I've no idea why the other plane didn't take off. There was some frantic running around trying to work out what was going to be the best way to get them here but we all made it in the end. Then a third daughter was involved in a minor car accident on the way home from the restaurant - typically the day after retrieving her car from the garage where it had been serviced and MOT'd!
Other than that the day went very well - at the moment my Dad is playing poker with the kids while I enjoy some brief peace and quite until my cousin returns from taking one daughter back to the airport and a neice to the station (she's the only sober one insured to drive a car that's in driveable condition!). There was some nice news - my son announced his engagement to the girl he's recently bought a house with, which was a complete surprise.

Thanks ... the string of associated disasters continued when one daughter had her flight back to Bristol delayed 2 hours which meant she wouldn't arrive in Bath in time to get the last train home. Not only would this have got her back quite late, but she was going to have to pay a lot of money to make the journey in a taxi!
Everyone was shattered at the end of the day - it felt more like a xmas day with having a lunchtime meal. One day to recover then off on holiday tomorrow!

You'd be surprised how many people respond to those e-mails. However, when they do I usually answer them

Happy Birthday Moira, even though i'm a day late apparently, i'm sorry the stupid flight messed up my head once again ill be back to my normal self by saturday I hope.
Many thanks, it was nice to get back from holiday and see new messages :) Don't talk to me about flights - Easyjet ones anyway! I have to say our holiday travelling was perfect, our connecting flights were timed just right, and I can thoroughly recommend Eastern Airways (but then both they and BA are far more expensive than Easyjet). You get what you pay for - unfortunately the cheap airlines are often the only option and when something's important you'd rather just get there.
I can't believe all this rain I've come back to! Shetland is bone dry, we had no rain the whole time we were there and I've even come back with a bit of a tan :)
