The thread title says it all.
Got my Vote.
Put up a poll also please. :D
:drink:
*Edit* i should stop tryin to type with a straw, by the time i finished typing and slammed the enter key down you'd already put up that poll.
Also is it just me but when i chose an option and hit the submit my vote but does anyone else get directed to another thread from 2005?
Yes, wow, that's odd. Never seen that before. That's going to take some investigating.
And to think i was starting to think that maybe i spilt more liquor onto my keyboard again.
It still smells badly of scotch from my last drinking adventure in front of the computer.. :drink:
yes yes yes. I think its a great idea. I went through all of my CCNA quarters, getting ready for the certifications and plan on going further and this being about the only forum i go to, it would amazing to be able to have discussions here about Cisco.
YAY! :)
Edit: yeah i saw that too. The poll was up at top but i was in a completely different thread. not thinking about it i went to the main page but I'll check my history to try to find which thread it was to help clarify that bug.
..Eh yeah i know exactly how many pages i went through but none point to the random thread. they all point to this one so i cant figure out which one it took me to.
Which ones are the blue lines. I'm color blind :)
We fixed the redirect issue (thanks to mnstrgrl).
And for the last member that voted, the blue lines delimit the 2 offensive/defensive zones, from the neutral zone. They serve to allow the linesman to make offsides calls. ;)
Awesome! Thanks! Cisco is top of the line when it comes to security!

So far 4 - for, 2- against, and 2 who don't understand hockey. Keep 'em coming folks!
A quick search only shows 500 threads with the word Cisco in - dating back to 2004 (Unless there is a limit on the search function?), only 54 threads this year have been Cisco related - and some of them don't look to be strictly Cisco related.
I'm presuming that any thread related to Cisco will include the word Cisco at some point......
I think it may be a seldom used forum if it is created, but it can always be undone if it turns out to not be needed...
If you get a new mod who has enough enthusiasm and knowledge to add lot's of content to it could work, may even benefit AO....Cisco is a popular google search term so it may attract a higher amount of new visitors/members...
I'm down, oh the possibilities!
So far this is looking good folks. The site editors are in agreement on it as well. I'm gonna let the poll run it's course.
I would be glad to contribute---level 7 password cracking on Cisco routers, acl's, Context Based Access Control, IDS, IPS/Firewalls, rerouting attacks---the list goes on...
Tim
Well you actually prompted the idea:D
yes, if you do it quickly while CISCO is still relivant....perhaps a more general cataory deailing with networkin hardwear
A Cisco forum would be great. I work with a PIX firewall daily and any additional information I can pick up on configuring this beast (even theoretical) would be helpful.
On the topic of blue lines...
Now that the two line pass is legit, I say we sh*tcan the blue lines all together.
One red line... our side, your side...let's play some pond hockey bitch
Now ya talkin'!!!!! Defensive hockey bites! Don Cherry can kiss my _______!
I'll second that one.. Just a general networking sub. That could include setting up cisco or other brands switches and routers. That would balance the network security (general too) nicely. PIX questions can go into firewall section.Quote:

But we cant vote again! :)
I am still trying to figure out what bluelines and offside are... ;)

Well those of you who would like to change your vote, just post that in the thread, I'll take note of it
What's hockey?
I would have gone for the last option (General forum).
But Morgan, you're CANADIAN!
Nokia, hockey is street violence, on ice.
I'd like to change my vote to the general networking, since it keep it from being so narrow and more thatn ciscoheads can contribute, more user-friendly :)
Noted
I have edited the poll results to reflect the 2 of you who said they would like to change their vote. If I missed anyone, lemme know, thanks
it would be cool to have a cisco forum!
Why not a general Network Hardware forum?
Cisco may be the front runner in network hardware, but most security techs will end up seeing all types of equipment. Don't short change companies that make good equipment (like Nortel), by giving Cisco their own forum.
Also would somebody post a PIX question in the firewall section or the cisco section? Just too confusing.
Actually I don't really care, but I figured I'd post just to anger some cisco fans.
Odds are, no matter what we may name it, it'll probably accept all types of manufacturer questions.
Yeah, I know enough about cisco from past experiences but these days I see lots more different equipment. I have feck all idea how 3com's or dell's work and I'm bound to end up trying to set one up in the foreseeable future. Chances are setting one up or the other should be the same anyway. It's all networking, just the syntax of the commands might be different ;)
I voted no, but now there's a general vote.. I vote general but you probably already guessed that :)
So I'll remove one from the "no" and add it under general!
Can the mods just edit their own votes? :D:halo:Quote:

Done
I dont get by a lot atm but i think a cisco or general forum would be good.
Okay---change my vote to general networking forum as well...will it be different than the networking security forum already in existence? Also, PIX's should probably go into the firewall section, though one may see them in the networking section as well. This is the way it is on other forum sites.
Tim
Done
Now that you mention it, we do already have a forum that covers those topics. Maybe this is all for nothing
