I'm just wondering, but...
When presented with a screen along the lines of "Present password for override" on a network security thingy in an internet browser, how can you find the password, and, subsequently, hide it again?

I am not really sure what you question is...is this a web site or a web based application???
Are you the admin\user or are tou trying to circumvent the security of someone elses "network security thingy" :eek7:

It's a website. Don't worry, I am the user.Quote:

Ummm..... yeah. if it's a website and you don't know the password (but are the user) than the admin is the only way to go. The password isn't going to be stored in clear text anywhere (if it's what im thinking and not some javascript based password protection). If it's something like an htaccess'd directory then the password is going to be encrypted and even the admin won't know what the plaintext password is so he's going to have to reset it for you.
that's why we ingore that part, and just answer the surface question ;)Quote:

TOR....you need to know waaay more info about the website and "network security thingy".....to start with.
MLF
Hahaha, no. It's just a parental control device that is frustrating me.
No worries.
What would you suggest?Quote:

Correct me if I am wrong but isn't D-Link Securespot just a router with software to control what can come in and out???
My guess is that if your parents don't want you to visit that site, you probably shouldn't!
Since your trying to be a "hacker" I suggest reading up on networking to get around this one, and not try to bypass the password until you know a LOT more...
"Hacker" was a miscommunication on my part, but I will take your advice.Quote:

Good Luck.
Pffft.... you don't even need the password. I'll throw you a bone kid, but you gotta work for it:
dXNlIGEgd2ViIHByb3h5
LOL xiphias360 how is he going to learn like that =)
I was going with a more "physical" way around it, but ok...
there you go TOR.
I think TOR wants to be spoon fed....
What is dlink
admin admin
or
admin blank
Me thinks TORs parents probably know more about it then he does...because they read the manual...which is online BTW
MLF
Me thinks morganlefay gets irritated by TOR =)
Me thinks ArPaNET is probably right...although I havent taken one of his dots yet.....because he hasnt been rude...just a noob
MLF
Is it just me or has the AO community become alot more AGGRESSIVE towards postings?
Okay I agree with cider!! You guys are being way to aggressive and arrogant. Instead of helping the kid you are insulting him.
Here are some tips tor.
1. Find a web bruteforcing tool
2. You could find a free ssh server that allows ssh tunneling. Find a proxy that works on google and log into the ssh server and tunnel port 8080 to some proxy that you found from the local host.. so in your ssh tunnel settings it would look like
Source port = 8080
destination = proxy:port
Now this will bypass your parents filtering and most school proxy settings lol... because it is encrypting it to the ssh server...
Good luck and keep trying and remember when trying to hack or bypass something keep an open mind to any ideas
Its just you :)

Alright! Something I can work on!Quote:

TOR....Start with reading the manual...then you may get the "physical" clue...I even gave you the fricken default password
Pryorda....I dont usually help people circumvent security measures...cause I am one of the people that puts them in place.
Hes got everything he needs......he should read the fookin manual or get his own fookin internet connection
If I find skiddies like you on my network trying to get around them...I get your ass fired.

well he can learn some basic crypto, lol...Quote:

If you have admin rights on the machine, install a keylogger and get the password, that's if it's not the default admin password.
Secondly, try using a live CD if you want to visit sites that you shouldn't be.
Also Tunneling.
His parents are going to have a word with you WolfeTone =)
You know..I may have been a little grumpy earlier...or harsh..
I really have no time to read for other people...then tell them what they need to know....with out getting some thing for me...
I think I am jaded
now we are spoon feeding
hmmmmmmmmmmm

Hello TOR,
What sites are banned (we have a personal messaging system if you don't want to post that in the open forum)?????
A lot of these "nanny systems" actually ban stuff that is quite innocuous:rolleyes:
That is because they use a "blacklist" which is not monitored.
When are you going to publish some of your music?
Can a mod post he's IP, i'll get he's details and just call he's mummy and daddy and tell them what there son is getting upto.
then he can just ask them to allow him to view one of JP's world famous twink site's.
