Is there any particular reason I'm having to log in twice? This is happenning with IE and FF.
I log in and get forwarded to a new user page, when I log in on that page all is well?
What did I screw up?

Hi ddddc,
I am getting the same. My start page is the list of most recent posts. If I try to log in there it takes me to the forums listing page where the login works. I don't get an error message like I would if I had borked the password entry.
Another member tells me they have had something similar when browsing a thread and wanting to look at an attachment. If they try to login from that screen it fails.
Win XP Pro SP3, Win 2000 Pro SP4, & FireFox 3.6.2
It looks like some sort of bug. I haven't tested with Vista yet nor with Opera and Chrome. I will get onto that a bit later.
No issue with Safari ;)
It's thrice for me and it takes me to a blank page...
I'll post the URL of the page next time it happens.
Regards,
Steve
Here is the url I am redirected to:

Once, here. Try dumping cookies and offline content in each browser. That may do it.
Hi JP.
Tried that.
It took me about 4 attempts to actually get the site to recognise that I had logged in (I didn't get any message suggesting that I had used a wrong password until I deliberately did that) and then it logged me in.
Shutting down and starting up again and I still have the problem I listed 2 posts above.
Just an off the wall suggestion - Could this be anything to do with daylight saving time since we have just entered BST in the UK.
Oh, and my posts are showing to be out by one hour.
Regards,
Steve
If I go to the main page and try to logon, it diverts me to the discussion forums page. If I go to the main page, select the discussion forums page from the list down the right hand side, then logon there it lets me in first time.
EDIT:
Steve, if you go to the User CP and select options you can change how DST is handled.
Hi nihil.
I've set my DST to "Always On" and all seems well in the world.
I guess as I had it set on automatic it was trying to ask me if I wanted it adjusting, but there was a problem with the page.
Regards,
Steve
I suppose it could be that, Steve. VBulletin does seem to have a lot of trouble with time changes.
No problems today at all.
Steve
Glad to hear that Steve :)
And don't you go trusting that JPnyc........................I'm sure he sets these things for us as an intelligence test :D
Cheers
I'm not that inventive:)
Still.
Tried DST always on, always off and auto detect. Still logging in twice. Cleared cache on the IE box, made no difference. I'll go back to using Chrome (haven't tried the newest version of Opera yet)

Hi Dave,
What OS are you using?.......................I entered this thread in "lurking mode" and it let me sign on first time..............I have the time set to "always on" which seems to work for Steve and myself.
This is XP Pro SP3 and FireFox 3.6.2
:)
That shouldn't make any difference.
Not that it makes any difference but I got the same problem as Dave. Been going on for a couple of weeks now. Tried everything suggested here with no success.
OS XP Pro SP3 Firefox 3.0.19
Cheers:
Dave.
You said you cleared the cache.
Did you clear cookies as well?
Steve
I still can't logon from the front page.................it still puts me through to the forums page where it works.
I can logon from within a thread though

We'll look into it.
Wow, same problem here, I just never noticed it cuz I always log in through threads. I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit version with IE8 and I havent changed any settings in the user cp, that I'm aware of.
I'm not sure if this was related, but just in case it was:
When we switched Clocks ahead one hour a while back, I was trying to get on AO, and I didn't have any problems logging in, but it did keep sending me to the DST page over and over again, and I was like WTF, so, I closed Opera, and then, opened it again, loaded AntiOnline from Speed Dial, just to make sure it was a fresh one, and it did it again, so, I basically just set the settings to what they were already, and hit apply, and it stopped. Apparently, even though I didn't change anything, it just wanted me to change something and hit Apply and then it started working again.
Just use whatever Browser you're using and the methods it has, to clear all your Cookies, all your Cache, and personal info for AntiOnline, then, log back in, and you can save your password and log in info if you like, and just click whatever is in DST, to un-select it, and then, reselect it, and save that. It stopped my Logging in from constantly going to that page every time once I did.
Like I said I don't know if this is going to fix your issue, but for some reason it was really intent on making me change and save something for some reason. I blame the Parents. (Whenever you see a statement like that you always see something along the lines of "I blame such and such for this" so I had to add something lol.).
Anyway, we could blame Joe but he said he's not that inventive ;) (Kidding of course, Joe is probably the nicest JP we've ever had here).
EDIT:
I'm running Opera 10.51 and haven't had ANY issues logging in or anything else, but I highly doubt it's a Browser issue because I think I saw people on here say they were using Firefox, Safari, Internet Explorer, and whatever else. So I really don't know how all those except Opera would have no problems. And I could say it's because Opera is better but then Joe and Coffee Cup would run to tell me I'm wrong lol.
OK we think that the login issue from the main page is now repaired.
Haven't had any log in issues here, use ie7 and k-meleon and on my *nix boxes i have a linux build of k-meleon.
You would only have experienced it if you login from the front page, rather than the main page of the forum itself.
@JPnyc
Everything seems fixed from my end................. are you sure it wasn't you doing one of those April First stunts?:D
Now, that HYBR|D............. don't trust him at all.................. I depth charged the John (Khazi, Dunnie, Loo....etc) several times, just in case he had slidden a 25' saltie in there:eek:
I knew that the Eastern Brown was a diversion (I have him out "controlling" parking wardens:lildevil:)
The Easter Egg.............that will be a taipan ...........right?
Fixed this morning.... I thought I was the only one, I figured it was the Freemasons coming to get me because I was late with my dues.
Every problem is easy.... after they're solved.
