Cell Phone Cloning
The other day I was watching Alias(good show) and I heard one of the characters say that his cell phone was cloned. I was just wondering what is cell phone cloning, and if it is true or not. Because I never heard of it prior to hearing on the show. If it is true how does it work? If you know pleases reply.

Cell phone cloning was a real problem just a few years ago. Due to advances in cell phone technology though, it is almost unheard of today.
The cell phones that were prone to being cloned were the analog versions. The newer digital phones are either much harder or impossible (actually nothing is really impossible) to clone. Most phones nowdays incorperate a SID in their programming that is hardwired into them or into a chip that is placed in them.

I think understand what you mean, but try to explain it to me as if I was five. Like what is cell phone cloning in the first place. I tried google but could not really find anything. Remember I just heard it on Alias and thought it sounded cool. It sounds to me like people can make a copy of a phone, but how is that even possible? And what is a PID....lol sorry for all the questions.
Any help is appreciated

Hope the following helps...

Seemed to be the only relevant info so far.

Not that im attemting in any way to commit fraud against the FCC...lol. I mean hell NO, Powell and his minions are nuts. But I do know people who are crazy enough to screw with the government.
