To start, my friend has a Windows XP Pro box. He changed the Admin account to his name, which is the only admin account. He got drunk and forgot the password for it and cannot change anything.. any ideas on how to change the admin password back?

I hope you know that sounds really lame, but if he gets peter nordahl's change nt password utility, he can boot up off a disk and change it that way. If you can't find it, you have no business trying to use it.
sorry if it sounds lame... but my friend is a drunk... so you gotta do what you gotta do.. i guess.. thx for the help
here you go
http://home.eunet.no/~pnordahl/ntpasswd/
it's working fine.

Otherwise, reformat and re-install.......................teach him the error of his ways?.......and tell him to write the bloody thing down somewhere!!!
If he has to reinstall he will have to reload all the fixes and patches as well :) Better do that from a CD because you won't last 5 minutes with an unpatched box these days.
Cheers
If he's drunk now, why not just wait until he's sober?!?!

Perhaps l0phtcrack would be able to take care of it.
l0phtcrack won't do it Cybr1d, you have to be logged in as Admin to sniff the SAM. Go here and get the Bootdisk: http://home.eunet.no/~pnordahl/ntpasswd/bootdisk.html
First off, he is always drunk, second, all are very helpful.. But i hit the backdoor because he is a idiot/drunk, thanks all.
Download the software from www.passware.com (it cost's money) and use that all the other things dont work.
